Line shape of a delayed self-heterodyne varied with noise types and delays

Applied Optics, 2022
The delayed self-heterodyne and self-homodyne (DSH) method is widely used for measuring the line shapes of high coherent lasers. This method results in an autocorrelation of a laser line under the condition of a delay that is much larger than its coherent time.

Kalman filtering-enhanced short-delay self-heterodyne interferometry for linewidth measurement

Optics Letters, 2023
We demonstrate an extended Kalman filtering-enhanced linewidth measurement in short-delay self-heterodyne interferometry (SDSHI). We found that a modified SDSHI trace closely resembles a biased cosine wave, which would enable convenient linewidth estimation by its uniform envelope contrast without any correction factor.

New Approach to Laser Characterization Using Delayed Self-Heterodyne Interferometry

Journal of Lightwave Technology, 2021
A new technique to measure phase noise properties of highly coherent lasers based on delayed self-heterodyne interferometer (DSHI) is suggested where the Allan variance of the beat note frequency is obtained via digital signal processing and then used to determine laser linewidth and phase noise properties.

Delayed self-heterodyne linewidth measurement of VCSELs

IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 1996
We report on high-resolution linewidth measurements of proton-implanted InGaAs-GaAs VCSELs employing the delayed self-heterodyne method. Devices with 16-/spl mu/m active diameter exhibit record low linewidths of 20 MHz and 4-MHz residual linewidth. The linewidth enhancement factor is accurately determined from the ratio of induced phase to amplitude ...

Delayed self-heterodyne interferometer measurements of narrow linewidth fiber lasers

Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO 2000). Technical Digest. Postconference Edition. TOPS Vol.39 (IEEE Cat. No.00CH37088), 2000
Summary form only given. Narrow linewidth lasers are critical for many scientific applications, including sensing, coherent signal generation, the study of quantum phenomena, and phase-sensitive systems. One key practical technology for generating narrow linewidths is the fiber ring laser. The delayed self-heterodyne interferometer (DSHI), in which one
