Comparison of tidal model using mike21 and delft3d-flow in part of Java Sea, Indonesia

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Earth and Environmental Science, 2020
Abstract This article presents about the comparison between two numerical model for tidal modelling. The tidal in North Coast of Central Java, a part of Java Sea were modelled in 2D to get the sea water level using DELFT3D and MIKE21 in order to identify model performance and efficiency.

Effectiveness of the Ike Dike in mitigating coastal flood risk under multiple climate and sea level rise projections. [PDF]

open access: yesRisk Anal
Abstract In the aftermath of Hurricane Ike in 2008 in the United States, the “Ike Dike” was proposed as a coastal barrier system, featuring floodgates, to protect the Houston‐Galveston area (HGA) from future storm surges. Given its substantial costs, the feasibility and effectiveness of the Ike Dike have been subjects of investigation.

The influence of dune lee side shape on time-averaged velocities and turbulence [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics, 2023
Underwater dunes are found in various environments with strong hydrodynamics and movable sediment such as rivers, estuaries and continental shelves.

Hydrodynamic and circulation pattern in Lake Burullus, Egypt

open access: yesEgyptian Journal of Aquatic Research, 2023
To improve the water quality of Lake Burullus, Delft3D FM hydrodynamic model was applied to simulate the flow and transport models in the Lake. Both the in situ field data and the Lake up-to-date geomorphology were used to get a clear-cut figure.

Relating Lake Circulation Patterns to Sediment, Nutrient, and Water Hyacinth Distribution in a Shallow Tropical Highland Lake

open access: yesHydrology, 2023
Excess sediment and nutrient losses from intensifying agriculture degrade water quality and boost plant growth. The relationship between circulation patterns, spatial water quality degradation, and water hyacinth infestation is not adequately studied ...

Damage Curves Derived from Hurricane Ike in the West of Galveston Bay Based on Insurance Claims and Hydrodynamic Simulations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Disaster Risk Science, 2023
Hurricane Ike, which struck the United States in September 2008, was the ninth most expensive hurricane in terms of damages. It caused nearly USD 30 billion in damage after making landfall on the Bolivar Peninsula, Texas.

Modeling daily soil salinity dynamics in response to agricultural and environmental changes in coastal Bangladesh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Understanding the dynamics of salt movement in the soil is a prerequisite for devising appropriate management strategies for land productivity of coastal regions, especially low-lying delta regions, which support many millions of farmers around the world.

A 2D Tide-Averaged Model for the Long-Term Evolution of an Idealized Tidal Basin-Inlet-Delta System

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2018
We present a model for the morphodynamics of tidal basin-inlet-delta systems at the centennial time scales. Tidal flow is calculated through a friction dominated model, with a semi-empirical correction to account for the advection of momentum.
