Global Analysis of Storm Surge Seasonality

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 130, Issue 11, November 2025.
Abstract We perform the first global analysis of storm surge seasonality using surge data from a global hydrodynamic model with full coverage of coastal areas, providing valuable insights for regions not represented in alternative observational data sources. We apply directional statistics based on the mixture model of the von Mises‐Fisher distribution

Morfodinamika Jangka Pendek Pendangkalan di Alur Pelayaran Barito, Kalimantan Selatan [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017

New methodology for calibration of hydrodynamic models in curved open-channel flow [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This paper evaluates a new methodology for calibration of hydrodynamicmodels based on the theory of statistical design of experiments. An Eulerian-Eulerianhydrodynamic homogeneous model, integrated by the commercial software CFX AnsysInc., is used to ...

Modelling the Spatio‐Temporal Effects of Water Level Control in an Agricultural Collector Ditch Network

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1717-1729, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The study focused on modelling open channel flow in an agricultural ditch network. The objectives were (1) to set up a computational tool to explore the hydraulic impacts of water level control in a collector ditch network and (2) to test the effects of damming height and ditch flow resistance on the water level and its relation to field ...

Hydrodynamic modelling with unstructured grid using D-Flow-FM: case study Afferden-Deest [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Accurate predictions of water levels play an important role in the management of flood safety. Nowadays, it has become common practice to use multi-dimensional numerical hydrodynamic models for such purposes.

Assessing the Port Footprint on Coastal Flood and Erosion Risks

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 13, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Ports are often perceived as sources of disruption to coastal environments, contributing to sediment imbalance, shoreline erosion and ecosystem service loss. However, this framing overlooks the broader, system‐scale influence that ports can exert on coastal dynamism and flood risk.

Block and boulder transport in Eastern Samar (Philippines) during Supertyphoon Haiyan [PDF]

open access: yesEarth Surface Dynamics, 2015
Fields of dislodged boulders and blocks record catastrophic coastal flooding during strong storms or tsunamis and play a pivotal role in coastal hazard assessment.

Time scales of river bifurcations

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 12, 30 September 2025.
By means of numerical and analytical analyses, this work unveils how upstream flow conditions and branch length affect how fast bifurcations evolve over time. Modelling results also show that bifurcations evolve more slowly than bar migration and natural flow variations.
