Potential Hydrodynamic Impacts and Performances of Commercial-Scale Turbine Arrays in the Strait of Larantuka, Indonesia

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2020
The Strait of Larantuka, with highly energetic tidal stream currents reaching speeds of up to 3−4 m/s, is a promising site for renewable electricity production from the ocean. This paper presents the results of an assessment regarding the potential

Escalating High Tide Flooding Along the Atlantic and Gulf Coast of the United States Due To Sea Level Rise

open access: yesEarth's Future, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract High tide flooding (HTF) occurs when astronomically driven water levels rise above flooding thresholds in coastal areas, which can happen on sunny days. In a warming climate, sea‐level rise (SLR) is expected to change the frequency of HTF via a direct non‐linear change in the mean water level.

Tracing and hydraulic modelling to assess the hydraulic performance of a constructed wetland [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences
Constructed wetlands are widely used to protect sensitive water resources from non-point source pollution from agriculture. Their potential to remove nitrate and pesticides increases with the water residence time and a uniform distribution of the inflow ...

Conceptual hydrodynamic-thermal mapping modelling for coral reefs at south Singapore sea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
YesCoral reefs are important ecosystems that not only provide shelter and breeding ground for many marine species, but can also control of carbon dioxide level in ocean and act as coastal protection mechanism.

Insight on the Coastal Response to Combined Tides, Storm Surges, and Surface Waves in a Macrotidal Bay From Real‐Time Predictions

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract Hazardous sea surface conditions can develop during storm events, when wind‐generated waves and storm surges coincide with high astronomical tides. For better understanding of these conditions, a novel and computationally efficient real‐time forecast model (COASTLINES‐BoF) was developed for a macrotidal bay that is exposed to wind waves, the ...

Optimization Of A Coupled Simulation With Delft3D-Flow And Swan For Informed Decision Making

open access: yes, 2014
The applications Delft3D-FLOW and SWAN are used to simulate respectively water flow and water waves. These two applications have been coupled with Delft3D-WAVE and the combination of these three executables has been optimized on the Bull cluster “Cartesius”. The runtime could be decreased by a factor 4 with hardly any additional hardware.

Wave and Tidal Controls on Embayment Circulation and Headland Bypassing for an Exposed, Macrotidal Site [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Headland bypassing is the transport of sediment around rocky headlands by wave and tidal action, associated with high-energy conditions and embayment circulation (e.g., mega-rips).

Process‐Based Sediment Transport Modeling to Study Fluvial Deposition in the Ganges‐Brahmaputra River System of Bangladesh

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Earth Surface, Volume 130, Issue 9, September 2025.
Abstract The Ganges‐Brahmaputra‐Meghna delta faces growing risks from subsidence, sediment depletion, and sea‐level rise. Sustaining delta elevation requires continued sediment supply, yet the spatial and seasonal dynamics of sediment retention across the fluvial system remain poorly resolved.
