An evaluation of hypnosis for obstetric delivery

Abstract A series of 400 obstetric deliveries are presented. Two hundred of these received group hypnotic training and 200 did not. Sixty-two per cent of the hypnosis series were delivered with hypnosis as the sole anesthesia. The trained group had a shorter labor and required less analgesia before delivery and in the puerperium.
