An Optimization Model for Single-Warehouse Multi-Agents Distribution Network Problems under Varying of Transportation Facilities: A Case Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The transportation cost of goods is the highest day-to-day operational cost associated with the food industry sector. A company may be able to reduce logistics cost and simultaneously improve service level by optimizing

Mechanisms of IgE‐mediated food allergy and the role of allergen‐specific B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Food allergy arises when allergen‐specific B cells preferentially produce immunoglobulin E (IgE) antibodies against harmless foods. This article explains the mechanisms driving IgE‐mediated reactions, highlights the central role of these B cells, and discusses how natural tolerance (NT) and oral immunotherapy (OIT) can reshape allergic immune responses.

Forward Freight Agreements and Market Transparency in the Capesize Sector

open access: yesAsian Journal of Shipping and Logistics, 2019
We investigate the connection between the trading of Forward Freight Agreements (FFAs) and its microstructure effects in the volatility of the spot freight market in the Capesize dry-bulk sector of oceangoing vessels.

What Ails Local Service Delivery of Public Goods and Services? [PDF]

open access: yes
This Note provides an account of the problems underlying local service delivery (LSD) in the Philippines and presents some prospective solutions. The problems are examined on the basis of the three components of the Triangulation Framework for LSD ...

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

A Study on International Multimodal Transport Networks from Korea to Central Asia: Focus on Secondhand Vehicles

open access: yesAsian Journal of Shipping and Logistics, 2016
Currently, high-income countries use multimodal transportation to export large quantities of secondhand vehicles to low-income countries. Secondhand vehicle export has shown its highest growth in recent years, especially in Korea.

Uncertain delivery in markets for lemons [PDF]

open access: yes
The notion of uncertain delivery is extended to study exchange economies in which agents have different abilities to distinguish between goods (for example a car in good condition versus a car in bad condition).

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Technical Trends Related to Intermodal Automated Freight Transport Systems (AFTS) *

open access: yesAsian Journal of Shipping and Logistics, 2018
In recent years, advanced countries including the US, Germany, the Netherlands and Japan have been actively developing automated intermodal freight transport system technology aimed at reducing greenhouse gas and fine dust, minimizing infrastructure ...
