A New Genus and Species of Delphacidae (Hemiptera: Fulgoroidea: Delphacidae) from Costa Rica

Melaniphax suffusculus gen. et sp. nov. is described from Costa Rica, representing the 57th delphacid species recorded from the country to date. The new genus is superficially similar to Caenodelphax Fennah in general appearance in that the body is uniformly colored with the wings infuscated.

Three new species of Delphacidae: Ditropis pontica sp. n., Eurybregma striiirons sp. n. and Xanthodelphax optimus sp. n. are described. Distinguishment of these species as new ones is based, besides external features, on a complex of distinct morphological characters in structure of male genitals and in some cases of female ones too.
