Prenatal development of the integument in Delphinidae (Cetacea: Odontoceti)
Journal of Morphology, 1995AbstractThe prenatal development of epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis was studied in embryos of different ago of two delphinid species (Stenella attenuata, Delphinus delphis), using light and transmission electron microscopical methods. The delphinid embryo is covered by a multilayered tissue formed by four different epidermal generations (periderm ...

Stenella clymene (Cetacea, Delphinidae) from the Coast of West Africa
Journal of Mammalogy, 1994New West African specimens of Stenella clymene , the Clymene dolphin, are evidence that the present unequal distribution of this species in the western and eastern parts of the tropical North Atlantic could be an artifact of poor sampling in African waters.

A preliminary approach to epidermal antimicrobial defense in the Delphinidae
Marine Biology, 2004In three delphinid species (Pacific spotted dolphin, Stenella attenuata; common dolphin, Delphinus delphis; harbor porpoise, Phocoena phocoena) the enzyme lysozyme and the peptide group β-defensins are demonstrated for the first time in cetaceans as products of the thick integument. Lysozyme was found between the lamellae of the stratum corneum, in the

Vertebral Morphology in Dolphins (Delphinidae): A
ABSTRACT This is the first 3D geometric morphometric study of vertebral morphology in such a large and diverse group of dolphins (24 species). The aim was to describe and compare vertebral shape within Delphinidae, and assess its relationship with the biomechanical demands of each species.

Kraniometrijske osobitosti dupina (Delphinidae) iz Jadranskog mora
1995Prema dosada{njim istra`ivanjima u hrvatskom dijelu Jadranskog mora `ivi najvi{e 300 jedinki dupina.
