Multi‐level fatigue reliability assessment of reinforced concrete railway bridges

open access: yesStructural Concrete, Volume 27, Issue 5, Page 7026-7047, October 2026.
Abstract This paper presents a multi‐level reliability framework for assessing the fatigue life of reinforced concrete (RC) railway trough bridges subjected to cyclic loading. The framework incorporates increasing levels of analytical complexity and real‐world data in four steps. First, an analytical model applies S–N curves and the Palmgren–Miner rule

A Late Cretaceous‐Eocene Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale (MM26) That Combines Marine Magnetic Anomaly Records, Radioisotopic Dates, and Astrochronology

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract The Geomagnetic Polarity Time Scale (GPTS) is essential to date geological events in stratigraphic sequences and to reconstruct plate motions. The first GPTSs were based on the record of magnetic anomalies created by seafloor spreading, calibrated by a few radioisotopic dates.

On A Novel Estimation Method of Stickiness Parameter of Suspended Particles From Tank Experiments

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Stickiness is a key factor in characterizing coagulation dynamics (aggregation or flocculation). Previous studies have developed methods for estimating constant stickiness parameters. These methods estimate the stickiness parameter based on the reduction rate of the number of particles observed in a simple stirred tank.

Some Composite ExponentialPareto Models for Actuarial Prediction [PDF]

open access: yes
Prediction is a very important and not so easy task for an actuary. An insurance company needs predictions of the future claims in order to evaluate premiums, to assess its financial situation, probabilities of ruin, etc.

Unveiling the Potential and Limitations of Large Observational Data Sets for the Calibration of Scaling Laws of Water Consumption

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 10, October 2026.
Abstract Scaling relationships for residential water consumption are crucial for transferring knowledge across spatial units and for developing predictive models that generalize beyond the observed data, key to the efficient and resilient management of urban water systems.

Global River Sediment Retention on Delta Plains

open access: yesAGU Advances, Volume 7, Issue 7, October 2026.
Abstract Fluvial sediments have helped form approximately 830,000 km2 of coastal deltaic land, a large part of which since the Holocene slowdown of global sea‐level rise. The rate at which deltas have retained fluvial sediment to build deltaic land, however, has varied greatly between different deltas. Sources of variability as well as global estimates
