Delta shock waves for a system of Keyfitz‐Kranzer type

ZAMM - Journal of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics / Zeitschrift für Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik, 2018
AbstractThis paper is concerned with a hyperbolic system of conservation laws of Keyfitz‐Kranzer type. We show the existence of a delta shock wave solution using the vanishing viscosity method. The obtained solution satisfies the generalized Rankine‐Hugoniot relation and the entropy condition.

Hypersonic flow with attached shock waves over plane delta wings

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1977
A new form is given for the general solution to the thin-shock-layer equations for the flow over a nearly plane delta wing. Using this, the solution described conjecturally by Hayes & Probstein for symmetrical flow with attached shock waves over a plane delta wing is realized numerically.

Unsteady hypersonic flow over delta wings with detached shock waves

AIAA Journal, 1976
The problem of pitching oscillating slender delta wings with detached shock waves in hypersonic flow is studied using Messiter's thin shock-layer theory. The amplitude of oscillation is assumed small and a perturbation method is employed. Closed-form simple formulas are obtained for the unsteady pressure field and for the aerodynamic derivatives of the

Shadow Waves: Entropies and Interactions for Delta and Singular Shocks

Archive for Rational Mechanics and Analysis, 2009
The author considers the conservation law \[ \partial_tf(U)+\partial_xg(U) = 0 \] with \(U:\mathbb R^2_+\rightarrow\mathbb R^n\), \(f,g:\mathbb R^n\rightarrow\mathbb R^n\). The focus is on the delta and singular shock solutions of the Riemann problem, their entropy admissibility conditions, and their interaction.

Nonequilibrium flow over delta wings with detached shock waves

AIAA Journal, 1980
An analysis is made of the effect of streamwise density changes, due to chemical reactions, on the flow in the shock layer of a medium- to low-aspect-ratio delta wing at angles of incidence such that the shock wave is detached from the leading edges. It is shown that the flow retains the essentially conical character that is associated with the absence

Surface Reflective Visualizations of Shock-Wave/Vortex Interactions Above a Delta Wing

AIAA Journal, 1997
The surface reflective visualization (SRV) system is used to investigate the vortical flowfield above a 65-deg sweep, sharp leading-edge, noncambered delta wing in a high subsonic flow. Configurations of M oo -α are considered that both do and do not exhibit vortex breakdown above the wing, with and without the presence of a terminating shock-wave ...

Hypersonic Flow with Attached Shock Waves over Delta Wings

Aeronautical Quarterly, 1970
SummaryHypersonic conical flows over delta wings are treated in the thin-shock-layer approximation due to Messiter. The equations are hyperbolic throughout, even in regions where the full equations are elliptic, and have not hitherto been solved for flows with attached shock waves.

Interactions of delta shock waves for the relativistic Chaplygin Euler equations with split delta functions

Mathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, 2014
Summary: In this article, we are concerned with the interactions of delta shock waves with contact discontinuities for the relativistic Euler equations for Chaplygin gas by using split delta functions method. The solutions are obtained constructively and globally when the initial data consists of three piecewise constant states.

Delta Shock Wave in a Perfect Fluid Model with Zero Pressure

Zeitschrift für Naturforschung A, 2019
Abstract The Riemann problem for a perfect fluid model with zero pressure is considered, where the external force is a given continuous function of time. All of exact solutions are given. In particular, a vacuum occurs in the solutions, although initial data stay far away from the vacuum.
