LANDSCAPE/ECOLOGICAL MODELLING OF WATER BALANCE OF THE WEST SIBERIA SOUTHEAST

open access: yesВодное хозяйство России: проблемы, технологии, управление, 2020
The article presents the technique of landscape ecological modeling of water balance for the Southeast of Western Siberia. This technique enables to assess the impact of different types of land use on the structure of the water balance.

3‐D impulse‐based level‐set method for granular flow modeling

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 125, Issue 17, 15 September 2024.
Abstract We explore the viability of modeling dynamic problems with a new formulation of an impulse‐based Level‐Set DEM (LS‐DEM). The new formulation is stable, fast, and energy conservative. However, it can be numerically stiff when the assembly has substantial mass differences between particles.

A discretization‐convergent level‐set‐discrete‐element‐method using a continuum‐based contact formulation

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 125, Issue 5, 15 March 2024.
Abstract The level‐set‐discrete‐element‐method (LS‐DEM) was developed to overcome the shape limitation of traditional discrete element method. LS‐DEM's shape generality relies on a node‐based surface discretization of grain boundary, and it has been used to shed new light of a variety of granular mechanics applications with realistically shaped grains ...

On the friction dependency of the stress Lode angle

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 48, Issue 4, Page 1001-1017, March 2024.
Abstract The shape of the failure locus of a material is significant for its strength predictions. Even when constitutive models include the same critical stress surface, different critical stress ratios can be predicted for an identical applied isochoric strain path. In this article, we investigate critical stress predictions of different constitutive

Test and DEM study on the influence of particle morphology on the shear characteristics of the reinforcement–soil Interface

open access: yes工程科学学报
The interaction at the geosynthetic–reinforced soil interface is a key factor in determining the stability of reinforced soil structures, with soil particle morphology significantly influencing this interaction.

Comparing RUSLE LS Calculation Methods Across Varying DEM Resolutions

open access: yesModern Geográfia
Soil erosion reduces land productivity and causes environmental degradation. Soil erosion models, such as the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE), are used to estimate the severity and distribution of erosion.

Measuring High Level Democratic Principles using the V-Dem Data

open access: yes, 2015
While the definition of extended conceptions of democracy has been widely discussed, the measurement of these constructs has not attracted similar attention.

Comparison Result of DEM Generated from Aster Stereo Data and SRTM

open access: yes, 2007
This paper explains a method to generated DEM (Digital Elevation Model) from ASTER (Advanced Spaceborn Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) stereo data and evaluates the generation of ASTER DEM and SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) DEM with ...

V-Dem Comparisons and Contrasts with Other Measurement Projects

open access: yes, 2017
For policymakers, activists, academics, and citizens around the world the conceptualization and measurement of democracy matters. The needs of democracy promoters and social scientists are convergent. We all need better ways to measure democracy.

The Influence of Heterogeneity on Lunar Irradiance Based on Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2019
The Moon is a stable light source for the radiometric calibration of satellite sensors. It acts as a diffuse panel that reflects sunlight in all directions, however, the lunar surface is heterogeneous due to its topography and different mineral content ...
