ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

DEM simulations of bi-disperse ellipsoids of different particle sizes
This paper presents the result of two schemes concerning computational effort reduction in discrete element simulations (DEM) of binary mixtures. Numerical triaxial compression simulations were performed. The coarse ellipsoids and the fine ellipsoids have similar shapes, but the sizes are significantly different.

Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Monitoring Change and Recovery of an Embayed Beach in Response to Typhoon Storms Using UAV LiDAR
The monitoring of beach topographical changes and recovery processes under typhoon storm influence has primarily relied on traditional techniques that lack high spatial resolution. Therefore, we used an unmanned aerial vehicle light detection and ranging

STUDY OF ERROR ANALYSIS AND THE EFFECTS OF RESAMPLING ON DIFFERENT DEMS
Resampling is the method of creating new pixels of different pixel size with respect to the original, using some interpolation technique from some existing pixels. Sometimes, the process may be as simple as duplication. Various approaches have been made to classify terrain based on the DEMs. To classify DEMs based on the slope into morphometric classes

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Method of Reconstructing Digital Elevation Model for Large-scale River Based on Copernicus DEM 30 [PDF]
[Objective] To address the challenges of incomplete remote sensing imagery and insufficient measured terrain data in large-scale river numerical simulations, this study proposes a novel method for river channel terrain reconstruction that integrates ...
