Erosion Quantification in Runoff Agriculture Plots by Multitemporal High-Resolution UAS Digital Photogrammetry

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2020
In this work, we apply close-range photogrammetry with unmanned aircraft systems to quantify erosion with millimetric spatial resolution in agricultural plots. We evaluate the proposed methodology against the traditional runoff method on active plots.

Tidal and seasonal controls on the stratigraphic architecture of blind tidal channel deposits in the fluvial-tidal transition of the macrotidal Sittaung River estuary, Myanmar

open access: yes, 2021
This directory contains the following drone-derived datasets collected between 2015 and 2017 in the Sittaung River estuary, Myanmar. The dataset indicates that the blind tidal channels in the distal part of the fluvial-tidal transition zone in the ...

Monitoring Change and Recovery of an Embayed Beach in Response to Typhoon Storms Using UAV LiDAR

open access: yesDrones
The monitoring of beach topographical changes and recovery processes under typhoon storm influence has primarily relied on traditional techniques that lack high spatial resolution. Therefore, we used an unmanned aerial vehicle light detection and ranging

Morphodynamic evolution of paraglacial spit complexes on a tide-influenced Arctic delta (Dicksonfjorden, Svalbard)

open access: yes, 2021
This directory contains the following drone-derived datasets collected between 2016 and 2019 at the head of Dicksonfjorden, Svalbard. The dataset indicates that the spit morphodynamics on the tidal flats at the head of Dicksonfjorden display a ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Value of MRI Outcomes for Preventive and Early‐Stage Trials in Spinocerebellar Ataxias 1 and 3

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To examine the value of MRI outcomes as endpoints for preventive and early‐stage trials of two polyglutamine spinocerebellar ataxias (SCAs). Methods A cohort of 100 participants (23 SCA1, 63 SCA3, median Scale for the Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) score = 5, 42% preataxic, and 14 gene‐negative controls) was scanned at 3T up ...

Validity of a Wearable Digital Insole for Assessing Gait ON and OFF in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Gait impairment is a distinctive symptom of Parkinson's disease that negatively impact mobility. We assessed the validity of wearable digital insoles against a validated reference gait analysis system for measuring select gait characteristics in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods A comparative analysis between digital insoles

Morphodynamic change analysis of bedforms in the Lower Orinoco River, Venezuela [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences, 2018
The Orinoco River has the third largest discharge in the world, with an annual mean flow of 37 600 m3 s−1 at its outlet to the Atlantic Ocean. Due to the presence of the Guiana Shield on the right bank, the lower reach of the Orinoco has a plan form ...

The Impact of Snow Grooming on Morphology and Erosion of Alpine Hillslopes: A Case Study from Kasprowy Wierch Ski Station in the Tatra Mountains

open access: yesLand
The rapid expansion of ski tourism and climate change-induced snow shortages have led to intensified ski run maintenance, including extensive earthworks, artificial snowmaking, and regular snow grooming.
