The regressive demands of demand-driven development [PDF]
Despite their explicit focus on reaching the poor, many community driven development (CDD) projects have been found to be only mildly pro-poor in their funding allocations. This paper presents evidence of an explanation that has been overlooked in the CDD literature to date: the requirement that beneficiaries must apply for projects in order to receive

Experimental evidence on demand for “on-demand” entertainment [PDF]
This study applies stated-preference choice experiments and accompanying surveys to examine how Subscription Video on Demand (SVoD) has disrupted film and television consumption. We examine demand for a large set of traditional consumption alternatives, such as cinema and free-to-air TV, as well as newer internet-based subscription services, such as ...

How Demanding Is the Revealed Preference Approach to Demand? [PDF]
A well-known problem with revealed preference methods is that when data are found to satisfy their restrictions it is hard to know whether this should be viewed as a triumph for economic theory, or a warning that these conditions are so undemanding that almost anything goes. This paper allows researchers to make this distinction.

We formulate several laws of individual and market demand and describe their relationship to neoclassical demand theory. The laws have implications for comparative statics and stability of competitive equilibrium. We survey results that offer interpretable sufficient conditions for the laws to hold and we refer to related empirical evidence.

Demand functions and demand manifolds [PDF]
AbstractMrázová and Neary (2017) introduce the notion of the Demand Manifold which expresses the relationship between the elasticity and curvature of a demand function. They argue that this determines many important comparative static properties of firm behavior.
