Estimating Money Demand Functions
Journal of Money, Credit and Banking, 1984THE QUESTION OF which functional forms of money demand regression equations are useful for empirical work is addressed here. Specifically, it is argued that a functional form that focuses attention on the ability of the growth rate of nominal money to predict the inflation rate is a useful way of summarizing empirical evidence on the existence of a ...

Alcoholism Treatment Demand Estimation
Health Marketing Quarterly, 1989There is a critical need to accurately determine the alcoholism treatment needs in a particular area so that treatment resources can be effectively allocated. Currently, many state planning agencies determine resource allocation based solely upon the population's utilization of existing treatment facilities.

Estimating Demand for Emergency Transportation
Medical Care, 1977Current and future demands for emergency transportation services are estimated relative to actual and potential use by the population at risk. Correct and incorrect utilization are defined by matching levels of responses (MICU, BEA, Transfer Vehicle, Nonemergency Vehicle, Transport/Private Vehicle) to the level to severity (Life-threat, Urgent, Routine,

On estimating dynamic factor demands
Journal of Applied Econometrics, 1987AbstractMany recent empirical studies on inter‐related factor demands involve factor demand functions whose arguments depend on the researcher's arbitrary normalization rule. This paper shows how sensitive the estimated elasticities are to the various normalizations that are possible. Alternatives that are not dependent on a normalization are suggested.

The availability of improved data will determine whether the search for new methodologies, which are more accurate than present ones for determining fertiliser demand, is successful. The author briefly reviews various ways of estimating fertiliser demand and emphasises the need for analysts to make clear the assumptions and limitations of the methods ...

Estimating Nonmotorized Travel Demand
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2007The modeling of nonmotorized travel demand has mostly been conducted at the large spatial level (e.g., city, county, or census tract level) by using data from the Bureau of the Census and the National Household Travel Survey. This paper introduces a modeling approach for estimating the mode share of nonmotorized trips by using data from multiple ...

Unit substation demand estimator
2006 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2006This paper describes the design and implementation of a unit substation demand estimator (USDE). The paper presents various methods for the estimation of missing data measurements in a 4kV distribution network. Each method is tested in detail to validate the accuracy of the estimated data and an estimation process strategy is suggested.

LACK of knowledge of demand curves for particular commodities has been a troublesome problem for marketing practitioners and economists. Some economists have felt that microeconomic price theory under conditions of monopolistic competition is of limited usefulness because it is based on a false assumption of sellers' knowledge of average revenue curves.
