An Autonomous Modular Public Transit service

open access: yes
In this work, we present a proof-of-concept investigation of Autonomous Modular Public Transit (AMPT) at a network scale and compare it with the traditional fixed-route, fixed-vehicle size transit service in terms of total cost, which consists of both ...

PASTA‐ELN: Simplifying Research Data Management for Experimental Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Research data management faces ongoing hurdles as many ELNs remain complex and restrictive. PASTA‐ELN offers an open‐source, cross‐platform solution that prioritizes simplicity, offline access, and user control. Its in tuitive folder structure, modular Python add‐ons, and open formats enable seamless documentation, FAIR data practices, and easy ...

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Soft Mechanical‐Electrical Logic Using Liquid Metal‐Filled 3D‐Printed Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present 3D‐printed soft mechanical–electrical logic elements that use liquid metal–filled silicone tubes actuated by thermoplastic polyurethane/polylactic acid (TPU/PLA) architectures to produce Boolean operations. Complementary normally open and normally closed unit cells perform repeatable binary transitions and can be combined into more complex ...

Linking Real Time and Location in Scheduling Demand-Responsive Transit

open access: yes, 1996
The role of rural demand-responsive transit is changing, and with that change is coming an increasing need for technology. As long as rural transit was limited to a type of social service transportation for a specific set of clients who primarily ...

Natural Bone‐Derived Ceramic Scaffolds Functionalized with Chitosan‐Gold, Chitosan‐Magnesium, and Chitosan‐Zinc for Enhanced Antibacterial Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of antibacterial ceramic scaffolds derived from natural bovine bone. The bones were processed through sequential boiling and hydrogen peroxide treatment to remove organic matter, producing porous, mineral‐rich scaffolds.

Productivity and Cost-Effectiveness of Demand Responsive Transit Systems

open access: yes, 2005
We study the impact on productivity of specific operating practices currently used by demand responsive transit (DRT) providers. We investigate the effect of using a zoning vs. a no-zoning strategy and time-window settings on performance measures such as total trip miles, deadhead miles and fleet size.
