As a follow-up to IRGC's report on demand-side flexibility for energy transitions, this Policy Brief highlights that increasing flexibility in power systems is needed to accommodate higher shares of non-controllable and intermittent renewable generation, and that this requires changes to the market design and regulatory framework, to facilitate the ...

A simulation study of demand responsive transit system design
Transportation Research Part A: Policy and Practice, 2008In this paper we study the impact on productivity of specific operating practices currently used by demand responsive transit (DRT) providers. We investigate the effect of using a zoning vs. a no-zoning strategy and time-window settings on performance measures such as total trip miles, deadhead miles and fleet size.

Demand responsive transit and the integration of D/R systems with traditional transit
Transportation, 1975This paper provides a background of the development of demand-responsive transit in small communities in the U.S.A. It also backgrounds traditional transit in metropolitan areas of the United States and outlines its deficiencies in terms of today's urban sprawl and in terms of today's society in metropolitan areas.

Optimization of multivehicle demand-responsive transit routing for low-carbon commuting
Conference on Smart Transportation and City EngineeringWith rapid urbanization, conventional public transit systems must simultaneously address operational efficiency and carbon reduction. This study proposes a demand-responsive transit (DRT) optimization model for commuting scenarios, integrating multi ...
