Fatty Acid Profile, Lipid and Cholesterol Content, and Nutritional Lipid Quality of Seven Fish Species from the Persian Gulf [PDF]
A total of seven fish species from the Persian Gulf, belonging to three pelagic, benthopelagic, and demersal habitat groups were evaluated for the fatty acid composition, lipid and cholesterol contents, and nutritional lipid quality characteristics of ...

Mapping the habitat of demersal fish resources to determine suitable fishing gear [PDF]
Proper use of fishing gear is important in fishing operations. This study aimed to determine a suitable type of fishing gear to be implemented in seven coastal districts in Bengkulu Province based on the results of mapping and analysis of demersal fish ...

Microplastics in Pelagic and Demersal Fishes of Pantai Baron, Yogyakarta, Indonesia
Yogyakarta is the second-largest producer of plastic waste in Indonesia. Plastic waste in the waters can be degraded into microplastics that can enter the body of a fish.

Species diversity of gillnet catches along the Egyptian Mediterranean coast of Alexandria
The present work deals for the first time with the species diversity of gillnets operated on the fisheries coasts of Alexandria City from El-Montazah to Sidi Kirayr. A total of 6161 specimens of about 427 kg were collected during periods from Feb 2018 to

The effect of fishing on demersal fish community dynamics: an hypothesis [PDF]
Fishing acts like a predator; it alters the extent of competition and allows the coexistence of competitive species. To test this hypothesis, several component elements are addressed. The variability of biomass in demersal fish communities is analysed to seek evidence that biotic interactions play a role in community dynamics.

The effects of fishing on demersal fish communities of the Scotian Shelf [PDF]
Since the 1970s, average individual weight of commercially targeted demersal fish on the Scotian Shelf (Canada) decreased by 51% on the eastern shelf and by 41% on the western shelf. For both systems, the integrated community size spectrum showed long-term declines in proportions of large fish and survey cpue of most targeted species.

Bottom trawling is one of the main pressures on benthic ecosystems, directly impacting the targeted species and physically disturbing the seabed and the benthic invertebrate communities, in turn indirectly impacting benthivorous fish and the entire ...
