Mapping the habitat of demersal fish resources to determine suitable fishing gear [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Proper use of fishing gear is important in fishing operations. This study aimed to determine a suitable type of fishing gear to be implemented in seven coastal districts in Bengkulu Province based on the results of mapping and analysis of demersal fish ...

Microplastics in Pelagic and Demersal Fishes of Pantai Baron, Yogyakarta, Indonesia

open access: yesJurnal Biodjati, 2020
Yogyakarta is the second-largest producer of plastic waste in Indonesia. Plastic waste in the waters can be degraded into microplastics that can enter the body of a fish.

Contrasting patterns in the occurrence and biomass centers of gravity among fish and macroinvertebrates in a continental shelf ecosystem

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2021
The distribution of a group of fish and macroinvertebrates (n = 52) resident in the US Northeast Shelf large marine ecosystem were characterized with species distribution models (SDM), which in turn were used to estimate occurrence and biomass center of ...

LONG-TERM AVERAGE BIOMASS AND DOMINANT FISH SPECIES IN THE BOTTOM BIOTOPES OF THE OKHOTSK SEA. PART 1. COMPOSITION AND QUANTITATIVE RATIO OF SPECIES ON SHELVES IN DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE SEA

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2018
Composition of the demersal fish community in the bottom biotopes of 14 biostatistical areas of the Okhotsk Sea is considered on the data of 9,189 standard trawl catches obtained in 95 expeditions conducted by Pacific Fish. Res.

DEMERSAL FISHING ANALYSIS OF KUPANG BAY [PDF]

open access: yesMarine Research in Indonesia, 1970
Study on demersal fish in Kupang bay was carried for 6 months, from July 2002 to December 2002. Sampling was conducted twice a month at the ten-selected locations within the bay using different fishing gears such as gill net, bottom logline, hand line and traps.

Feeding Habit-Specific Heavy Metal Bioaccumulation and Health Risk Assessment of Fish in a Tropical Reservoir in Southern China

open access: yesFishes, 2023
Dietary uptake is well known as the predominant pathway of heavy metal bioaccumulation in organisms. Our study used a typical tropical reservoir and fish as a modeling system to test the hypothesis that feeding habits and living habitats significantly ...

The effects of fishing on demersal fish communities of the Scotian Shelf [PDF]

open access: yesICES Journal of Marine Science, 2000
Since the 1970s, average individual weight of commercially targeted demersal fish on the Scotian Shelf (Canada) decreased by 51% on the eastern shelf and by 41% on the western shelf. For both systems, the integrated community size spectrum showed long-term declines in proportions of large fish and survey cpue of most targeted species.

Putative fishery-induced changes in biomass and population size structures of demersal deep-sea fishes in ICES Sub-area VII, Northeast Atlantic Ocean [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2013
A time series from 1977–1989 and 2000–2002 of scientific trawl surveys in the Porcupine Seabight and adjacent abyssal plain of the NE Atlantic was analysed to assess changes in demersal fish biomass and length frequency.

Trophic redundancy in benthic fish food webs increases with scarcity of prey items, in the Southern Baltic Sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
Bottom trawling is one of the main pressures on benthic ecosystems, directly impacting the targeted species and physically disturbing the seabed and the benthic invertebrate communities, in turn indirectly impacting benthivorous fish and the entire ...
