Abstract Wnt proteins are a family of molecules that help control how cells grow, develop and communicate – processes that are fundamental to the development and health of all animals. Although Wnt pathways have been studied extensively in model species, very little is known about how they operate in marine fish.

A preliminary investigation of the Marine Ichthyofauna in the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park
Sixty-five species representing 29 families were re- corded in a survey of the marine ichthyofauna of the Tsitsikamma Coastal National Park. Visual assessments of the composition of the fish communities at three inshore reef types indicated differences

Impact of fishing on size composition and diversity of demersal fish communities [PDF]
By analysing data sets from different world regions we add evidence to documented changes in demersal fish community structure that may be related to fishing. Changes are analysed by community properties that might be expected to capture relevant overall changes – size spectra slopes and intercepts, Shannon-Wiener diversity, and dominance.

Marine embayments and estuaries play an important role in the ecology and life history of many fish species. Cockburn Sound is one of a relative paucity of marine embayments on the west coast of Australia.

Contrasting life‐history strategies of three sympatric icefish species in the northern Scotia Sea
Abstract Comprehending a species' life‐history strategies is crucial to inform effective conservation efforts. Commercial fishing impacts icefish (family: Channichthyidae) in the Scotia Sea, but detailed information on species‐specific life histories remains largely unknown.

Assessment of demersal fishery resources in Brunei Darussalam [PDF]
A problem commonly encountered in stock assessments of tropical marine resources in developing countries is data paucity, which invariably results from the lack of both human and economic capacity within the government to implement and maintain ...

Abstract Ginglymostoma cirratum, commonly known as the nurse shark, is a nocturnally active benthic shark, often found in western and eastern Atlantic waters. Although this shark has been well explored in many biological aspects, few studies have thoroughly examined the morphology of its dermal denticles (or placoid scales).

The impacts of environmental forcing on the dynamics of demersal fishery resources of Ghana [PDF]
The dynamics of demersal fish species assemblages and stocks on the continental shelf of Ghana, West Africa were investigated using data from trawl surveys conducted between 1963 and 1990, and in relation to marine environmental and nearshore forcing ...
