Demineralized bone implants.

Clinics in plastic surgery, 1985
There are three mechanisms of bone formation that underlie the use of the different types of implants. In osteogenesis, viable osteoblasts and preosteoblasts are transplanted from one part of the body to the site where new bone is needed; cancellous marrow grafts are an example of such osteogenic engraftment.

Demineralized Murine Skeletal Histology

2014
Cartilage and bone are specialized skeletal tissues composed of unique extracellular matrices. Bone, in particular, has a highly calcified or mineralized matrix that makes microtomy and standard histological studies very challenging. Therefore, methods to appropriately fix and decalcify mineralized skeletal tissues have been developed to allow for ...

Demineralization of human enamel

European Journal of Oral Sciences, 1974
abstract— The aim of the present paper is to demonstrate that enamel can be dissolved in two, chemically distinct ways. Each of six premolars were exposed to 8 ml of a pH 5.0 buffer. The ionic activity products for Ca5(PO4)3OH, Ca5(PO4)3F, CaHPO4, CaF2andCa4H(PO4)3 were determined.

Skeletal demineralization in Turner's syndrome

Calcified Tissue International, 1982
The bone mineral status of 17 girls with Turner's syndrome was evaluated by single photon absorptiometry. Bone mineral content (BMC) was 25.4% below that predicted by normalization for age, sex, height, weight, and bone width. Only 25% of this demineralization could be attributed to delayed skeletal maturation.

Neovascularization of Surface Demineralized Dentin

Journal of Periodontology, 1989
Uneventful healing of the wound site created by periodontal reconstructive surgery is crucial for the long term survival of the dentition. Wound healing has been shown to be initiated and mediated by matrix components and polypeptide growth factors. Neovascularization (or angiogenesis) is one of the most important events in the healing process of a ...

Enamel Demineralization by Snack Foods

Journal of Dental Research, 1975
The amount of enamel destroyed by salivary fermentation of snack foods and confections was not dependent on their sugar content; starch, flavoring agents, and other components also played a part. Most enamel destruction was produced by fruit-flavored candies in which the inherent acid or high sugar concentration or both inhibited bacterial ...

Demineralization and Remineralization

2016
Dental caries is caused by an imbalance between protective and pathologic factors such that the process of demineralization of tooth structure exceeds the ability to remineralized tooth structure. Different kinds of models have been widely used to study de-/remineralization process of dental hard tissue, including pH-cycling models, in vitro biofilm ...

Enamel demineralization following orthodontic treatment

American Journal of Orthodontics, 1982
A cross-sectional study was carried out to determine the prevalence and severity of enamel opacities in patients before and after orthodontic treatment. The sample consisted of 527 patients examined prior to and 269 patients examined after completion of multibanded orthodontic treatment.
