Impact of Demineralization on Various Types of Biomass Pyrolysis: Behavior, Kinetics, and Thermodynamics

open access: yesEnergies
This study systematically investigates the effects of demineralization on the pyrolysis characteristics, kinetics, and thermodynamics of three biomass types (eucalyptus, straw, and miscanthus) using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) combined with multiple

Demineralization of cortical bone for improvement of Charpy impact fracture characteristics

open access: yesJournal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering, 2017
Bone tissue is a composite structure of apatite particles distributed in collagen fibril matrix on a nano-size scale. Mechanical properties of cortical bone are determined by the apatite-collagen composition.

Women with epilepsy: Evidence‐based counseling across the lifespan

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Women with epilepsy (WWE) encounter distinct and evolving challenges across the lifespan that require clinical management extending beyond seizure control alone. Although awareness of sex‐specific aspects of epilepsy has increased, important gaps remain in their integration into routine care.

Immunomodulatory Effect of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Scale Gelatin Peptides in RAW264.7 Macrophages and Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Currently, small‐molecular‐weight collagen peptides are a research hotspot in functional factor development due to their high bioavailability and diverse bioactivities. In this study, gelatin was extracted from tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) scales by hot water extraction, followed by pepsin hydrolysis and ultrafiltration to obtain the < 3 ...

A dendrimer enhanced CRISPR/Cas12a performance for the evaluation of acidogenic capacity in cariogenic bacteria

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
A CRISPR/Cas12a‐powered dendritic DNA nanostructure is assembled to create confined enzymatic microdomains, enabling ultrasensitive detection. Integrated into a paper‐based origami biosensor, it allows equipment‐free on‐site quantification of acidogenic pathogens for the early diagnosis of dental caries.

Evaluation of 6‐Month Knowledge Retention and Satisfaction After Pedagogical Escape Games in Dentistry

open access: yesJournal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate 6‐month knowledge retention and long‐term satisfaction after two pedagogical escape games (PEGs) addressing foundational (3D printing) and clinical (pediatric dentistry) content in a dental curriculum. Methods In this monocentric serial cross‐sectional study, immediate post‑PEG knowledge was assessed in fifth‑year dental ...

Probiotic consumption reduces alveolar bone loss and kidney damage in pregnant rats with experimental periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis HN019 (B. lactis HN019) is a probiotic bacterial strain with immunomodulatory properties. Its benefits have been observed in healthy and systemically compromised animals with periodontitis (PD). Our objective was to investigate the local and systemic effects of the systemic administration of B.
