The demography of globalisation
Demographic globalisation, as the counterpart of economic globalisation, is interpreted as the movement towards a state depicted as the "global village" where there are no official impediments to the cross-border movement of people. Such movement is posited as the outcome of inter-country disequilibria which determine the levels of the propensity to ...

Black Hole Demography from Nearby Active Galactic Nuclei [PDF]
A significant fraction of local galaxies show evidence of nuclear activity. I argue that the bulk of this activity, while energetically not remarkable, derives from accretion onto a central massive black hole. The statistics of nearby active galactic nuclei thus provide an effective probe of black hole demography.

Inverse problems in demography and biodemography [PDF]
Inverse problems play important role in science and engineering. Estimation of boundary conditions on the temperature distribution inside a metallurgical furnace, reconstruction of tissue density inside body on plane projections obtained with x-rays are ...

Abstract Objectives An increasing body of evidence indicates altered DNA methylation in Parkinson's disease, yet the reproducibility and utility of such methylation changes are largely unexplored. We aimed to further elucidate the role of dysregulated DNA methylation in Parkinson's disease and to evaluate the biomarker potential of methylation‐based ...

Relationship of cognitive decline with glucocerebrosidase activity and amyloid‐beta 42 in DLB and PD
Abstract Objective Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB) and Parkinson's disease (PD) share clinical, pathological, and genetic risk factors, including GBA1 and APOEε4 mutations. Biomarkers associated with the pathways of these mutations, such as glucocerebrosidase enzyme (GCase) activity and amyloid‐beta 42 (Aβ42) levels, may hold potential as predictive ...
