No longer Demospongiae: Homoscleromorph formal nimination as a fourth class of porifera

open access: yes, 2011
International audienceOver the past few years, there has been growing interest among the sponge community in the phylogenetic position of the Homoscleromorpha (i.e. within or outside the class Demospongiae).

Suberitidae (Demospongiae, Hadromerida) from the North Aegean Sea.

open access: yesBeaufortia, 1993
Sampling in the North Aegean Sea yielded nine species of the family Suberitidae, four of which, Pseudosuberites sulphureus, P. hyalinus, Suberiles ficus and S. syringella, are new for the fauna of the Eastern Mediterranean, and three more, S. carnosus, S. domuncula, and S. massa, are new records for the fauna of the Aegean Sea.

The chromosomal genome sequence of the marine sponge Diacarnus erythraeanus Kelly-Borges & Vacelet, 1995, and its associated microbial metagenome sequences [version 2; peer review: 2 approved, 1 approved with reservations]

open access: yesWellcome Open Research
We present a genome assembly from an individual Diacarnus erythraeanus (sponge; Porifera; Demospongiae; Poecilosclerida; Podospongiidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 140.86 megabases.

Indonesian sponges of the genus Petrosia Vosmaer (Demospongiae; Haplosclerida)

open access: yesZoölogische Mededelingen, 2002
Sponges of the genus Petrosia (Demospongiae: Haplosclerida) are large and characteristic components of many Indonesian reefs. We identify and provide descriptions of seven species of Petrosia collected recently on SW Sulawesi reefs (Eastern Indonesia), two of which are new to science: Petrosia (Petrosia) alfiani spec. nov.

Lissodendoryx species of the Indo-Malayan archipelago (Demospongiae: Poecilosclerida)

open access: yesBeaufortia, 1995
A brief history of the genus Lissodendoryx Topsent, 1892 is given and the Indo-Malayan representatives are described based on material collected by the Siboga Expedition (1899-1900) and the Indonesian-Dutch Snellius II Expedition (1984-1985), on reexamination of previously described specimens from the area, and on the literature.
