Toward Complex In‐Car Environment Human–Vehicle Interactions Through Smart Glasses and sEMG‐Based Gesture Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes a novel weighted random forest multimodal fusion method that combines smart glasses and sEMG data for in‐vehicle gesture interaction. It realizes stable performance in dim, occluded, and other constrained scenarios, providing feasible solutions and laying a foundation for universal human–machine interaction.

Interpretable Clustering Using Dempster-Shafer Theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Universal Computer Science
This study presents DSClustering, a novel algorithm that merges clustering validity with interpretability using the Dempster-Shafer theory. Traditional clustering methods like K-means, DBSCAN, and agglomerative clustering, while widely used for their ...

A perspective on automated rapid eye movement sleep assessment

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, Volume 34, Issue 2, April 2025.
Summary Rapid eye movement sleep is associated with distinct changes in various biomedical signals that can be easily captured during sleep, lending themselves to automated sleep staging using machine learning systems. Here, we provide a perspective on the critical characteristics of biomedical signals associated with rapid eye movement sleep and how ...

Stock portfolio selection using Dempster–Shafer evidence theory

open access: yesJournal of King Saud University: Computer and Information Sciences, 2018
Markowitz’s return–risk model for stock portfolio selection is based on the historical return data of assets. In addition to the effect of historical return, there are many other critical factors which directly or indirectly influence the stock market ...

The Additive Logic of Epistemic Reasons: An Axiomatic Account

open access: yesTheoria, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The article argues for a system of axioms that is meant to capture the logic of normative reasons for belief. The system concerns a primitive direct‐reason relation, a defined doxastic‐reason relation, and a primitive function for the revision of rational belief by reasons.

Place Classification using Dempster-Shafer Theory

open access: yesFoundations of Computing and Decision Sciences, 2017
The paper presents a novel place labeling method. It is assumed that an indoor mobile robot equipped with a camera or RGB-D sensor ambulates an indoor environment. The places visited by the robot are classified based on objects which have been recognized.

Radar target classification using improved Dempster–Shafer theory

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
This study considers the problem of coarse classification of targets using multifunction radar. Several methods are available for classification such as decision trees, Dempster–Shafer, Bayes, neural networks, etc. A different approach to assign the mass

The Evaluation on Development Quality of Open Education Based on Dempster-Shafer With Multigranularity Unbalanced Hesitant Fuzzy Linguistic Information for Chinese Case

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Multi-granularity unbalanced hesitant fuzzy linguistic term set (MGUHFLTS) is an effective expression of linguistic information, which applied in multi-attribute group decision-making (MAGDM), meanwhile Dempster-Shafer evidence theory (DSET) is profound ...

The Greatest Mystery of Futures Studies

open access: yesFUTURES &FORESIGHT SCIENCE, Volume 8, Issue 2, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Futures studies has long lived with a puzzle: every domain the field investigates is already studied by some special science. Three familiar replies—that futures studies extracts insights, takes a longer view, or includes lay perspectives—each capture something real but do not, on closer inspection, individuate the field at the level of its ...

Trapezoidal Intuitionistic Fuzzy Multiattribute Decision Making Method Based on Cumulative Prospect Theory and Dempster-Shafer Theory

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, 2014
With respect to decision making problems under uncertainty, a trapezoidal intuitionistic fuzzy multiattribute decision making method based on cumulative prospect theory and Dempster-Shafer theory is developed.
