Noise in Passively Mode-Locked Lasers [PDF]
For the first time, phase fluctuations in the spectral intensity of the pulse train generated by passively mode-locked semiconductor lasers have been measured. The results reveal diffusion-like fluctuations of this phase.

Physical Interpretation of Diffractive Optical Networks for High‐Dimensional Vortex Mode Sorting
The first layer‐resolved physical interpretation of diffractive optical networks trained for high‐dimensional vortex mode sorting is presented, revealing transformation division phenomena linked to saturated performance as layer numbers increase. This analysis reconciles physical theorems with network operations, enabling physics‐driven design of ...

Independent Orbiter Assessment (IOA): Analysis of the DPS subsystem [PDF]
The results of the Independent Orbiter Assessment (IOA) of the Failure Modes and Effects Analysis/Critical Items List (FMEA/CIL) is presented. The IOA approach features a top-down analysis of the hardware to independently determine failure modes ...

First experimental demonstration of real-time orchestration in a Multi-head metro network [PDF]
International audienceWe present for the first time the experimental demonstration of a Real-Time control-plane on the Multi-hEad sub-wavElength swiTching (MEET), Metro architecture. The key control assets are calculated and provided to the edge nodes in

Polarization demultiplexing in Stokes space
A technique is demonstrated for polarization demultiplexing of arbitrary complex-modulated signals. The technique is based entirely on the observation of samples in Stokes space, does not involve demodulation and is modulation format independent. The data in Stokes space is used to find the best fit plane and the normal to it which contains the origin.

Self‐Timed Asynchronous RISC‐V Microprocessor for Contactless Cards
ABSTRACT Contactless smart cards operate using power harvested through inductive coupling, which requires the use of extremely low‐power, supply‐tolerant digital architectures. This work presents a self‐timed RISC‐V RV32I microprocessor that replaces the global clock with an asynchronous finite state machine based on a handshake protocol.

Multimode fiber optic wavelength division multiplexing [PDF]
Optical wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems, with signals transmitted on different wavelengths through a single optical fiber, can have increased bandwidth and fault isolation properties over single wavelength optical systems.

Multi-channel demultiplexer/demodulator [PDF]
One of the critical satellite technologies in a meshed VSAT (very small aperture terminal) satellite communication networks utilizing FDMA (frequency division multiple access) uplinks is a multichannel demultiplexer/demodulator (MCDD). TRW Electronic Systems Group developed a proof-of-concept (POC) MCDD using advanced digital technologies.

To address the limitations of traditional FPGA‐based multiaxis control schemes—such as excessive resource consumption and complicated parameter tuning—this paper proposes a large‐scale time‐division multiplexing (LTDM) control architecture. By leveraging dynamic resource scheduling and high‐fanout signal optimisation, the proposed architecture enables ...
