酸沉降是全球面临的重大环境问题之一，已经造成了许多地区的环境破坏和生态恶化。为此，人们对酸雨的性质及环境效应进行了广泛的研究，已经有了越来越深刻的认识。而作为引起森林树种衰退和死亡的主要原因，由酸沉降导致的土壤酸化问题更是备受关注。在大多数地区，历史监测资料的缺乏却给长期土壤酸化的评估带来了很多的困难，但是树木年轮元素含量的径向变动提供了检测林区土壤化学历史变动的潜力，从而可以用来克服这一困难。基于以上几点，本研究为获取重建川西亚高山森林生态系统土壤酸化历史变迁的最佳指标，选取该地区峨眉山（严重酸沉降）
