We examined growth responses of 1820 trees across 30 species to three distinct droughts in a seasonally dry tropical forest in western Thailand. Contrary to expectations of simple, consistent drought responses, species and individuals varied widely in their growth sensitivity to distinct drought events that had differing characteristics.
