Dense medium cyclones are used extensively in the minerals processing industry around the world and cyclones with larger diameters have been introduced in recent years. Although cyclones have been in use for well over 60 years, the influence of the different process variables such as cyclone dimensions, feed pressure, medium properties and feed rates ...

NEUTRINO OSCILLATION IN DENSE MEDIUMS
International Journal of Modern Physics A, 2009It is found that a term normally discarded in the standard treatment of the MSW effect might be relevant in the case of non-adiabatic varying matter density, leading to a second order field equation, instead of the usual first order "Schrodinger equation".

High-harmonic generation in a dense medium
Physical Review A, 2005The high-harmonic generation in a plasma or gas under conditions when the single-atom response is affected by neighboring ions or atoms of the medium is studied theoretically. We solve numerically the three-dimensional Schr\"odinger equation for a single-electron atom in the combined fields of the neighboring particles and the laser, and average the ...

Scaling effective Lagrangians in a dense medium
Physical Review Letters, 1991By using effective chiral Lagrangians with a suitable incorporation of the scaling property of QCD, we establish the approximate in-medium scaling law, ${\mathit{m}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}^{\mathrm{*}}$/${\mathit{m}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\sigma}}}$\ensuremath{\approxeq}${\mathit{m}}_{\mathrm{N}}^{\mathrm{*}}$/${\mathit{m}}_{\mathrm{N ...

Effect of Medium Composition on Dense Medium Cyclone Operation
International Journal of Coal Preparation and Utilization, 2014The importance of the amount of nonmagnetic material present in a medium to the stability of the medium and the subsequent density of separation has been the focus by the authors on a number of recent ACARP projects. A method for quantifying the composition of a medium in terms of magnetite, clay, fine coal, and small coal was demonstrated and, using a

Some causes of medium loss in dense medium plants
Minerals Engineering, 1995Abstract Medium consumption is a significant component of the cost of operating a dense medium plant. This study aimed to identify and quantify many of the factors contributing to overall consumption, through extensive surveys of four widely differing dense medium mineral separation plants, and associated laboratory experiments.

Opacity measurements in a hot dense medium
Physical Review Letters, 1991Measurements of the opacity of aluminum in a well characterized, hot, dense, laser produced plasma are reported. Measurements of the absorption of X-rays by 1 to 2 transitions in Al XII through Al VIII have been made in a laser-heated slab plasma at the measured temperature and density of 58 ^ 4e V and 0.020 ^ 0.007 g cm~3. Separate measurements of the

Coal Preparation, 1995
The effect of medium composition on dense medium cyclone performance is investigated. It is found that a change in composition affects medium stability and rheology, and may lead to different responses in separation efficiency and cutpoint shift. The final result depends on whether the medium stability or rheology is the dominant factor, and also on ...

Prediction of Underflow Medium Density in Dense Medium Cyclones
1992The prediction of the underflow medium density, ρu, in a dense medium cyclone is important, both because many empirical and phenomenological models of DMC performance incorporate ρu as an independent variable, and for plant design purposes. This paper reviews the published correlations for ρu, and presents some recent work on the subject.
