Zero‐dimensional carbon nanomaterials are presented as multifunctional platforms linking structure, property, and sensing performance. Surface engineering and heteroatom doping modulate electron‐transfer and luminescent behavior, enabling electrochemical, photoluminescent, and electrochemiluminescent detection. Fundamental design principles, analytical

Wavelength switched hybrid TDMA/WDM (TWDM) PON: a flexible next-generation optical access solution [PDF]
In this paper, we propose the system concepts of a next-generation wavelength switched hybrid time division multiple access and wavelength division multiplexing (TWDM) passive optical network (PON) architecture. In this architecture, wavelength selective

Water‐Stable Paper‐Based Laser‐Induced Graphene With Asymmetric Water Adhesion and Wettability
Paper‐based electronics are attractive for sustainable and disposable devices, but often fail in wet environments. By introducing Parafilm into cellulose paper combined with laser conversion, two graphene surfaces with different water interactions are created.

Adaptive crosstalk cancellation in dense wavelength-division multiplexing networks
Laser frequency drift and close channel spacing in dense WDM networks can cause linear crosstalk.1 We propose to use the least mean squares (LMS) algorithm2 to adaptively cancel the crosstalk in an IM/DD receiver. This cancellation relaxes the laser frequency stabilization requirement and/or reduces the minimum channel spacing. A similar use of LMS was

UDWDM-PON using low-cost coherent transceivers with limited tunability and heuristic DWA [PDF]
A new Passive Optical Network (PON) for access, making use of Ultra Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (UDWDM) by densely spacing channels at few GHz, and introducing the “wavelength-to-the-user” concept, is proposed.

A Four-Channel DWDM Tunable Add/Drop Demultiplexer Based on Silicon Waveguide Bragg Gratings
We demonstrate a thermally tunable four-channel add/drop demultiplexer based on silicon grating-assisted contra-directional couplers (contra-DCs) for 200 GHz dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems.

Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...
