A review of the tectonic, volcanological and hazard history of Vulcano (Aeolian Islands, Italy)

open access: yesTerra Nova, Volume 35, Issue 6, Page 471-487, December 2023., 2023
Abstract Vulcano is one of the seven volcanic islands composing the Aeolian Islands archipelago (Southern Italy), which also includes three other active volcanoes. The island was originally a stratovolcano like Stromboli; afterwards, its shape turned towards a complex structure composed of several volcanic landforms of different sizes.

The response of high density turbidity currents and their deposits to an abrupt channel termination at a slope break: Implications for channel–lobe transition zones

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 70, Issue 4, Page 1164-1194, June 2023., 2023
ABSTRACT The transition between the slope and basin floor is typically marked by a slope break, in some cases causing channels to terminate and turbidity currents to undergo a loss of confinement. It is thus essential to understand how these slope breaks and losses of confinement influence the hydrodynamic evolution of turbidity currents and impact ...

The Yih Instability in Layered Lava Flow May Initiate the Pāhoehoe to ‘a‘ā Lava Transition

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 50, Issue 10, 28 May 2023., 2023
Abstract Most basaltic lavas begin flowing as pāhoehoe but sometimes transition into ‘a‘ā. Field observations and previous models have demonstrated that the rheology of smooth, liquid‐like pāhoehoe is distinct from rough, pasty ‘a‘ā, but the cause of this dramatic and rapidly occurring change in rheology has remained unclear.

Using a refracto-densimetric method for control of secondary oil-refining processes: Hydrotreating and hydrocracking

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Естественные науки, 2019
The possibility of using flow refractometers and densimeters or refracto-densimetric analyzers to study the quality of diesel fuels obtained in the processes of hydrotreating and hydrocracking of raw materials was discussed.

MicroRNA‐494 regulates high glucose‐induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis and autophagy by PI3K/AKT/mTOR signalling pathway

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 1401-1411, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Aims Diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is one of the major cardiovascular complications of diabetes. However, the mechanism of DCM is not fully understood. Studies have confirmed that certain microRNAs (miRNAs/miRs) are key regulators of DCM. The aim of this study was to investigate the role and mechanism of microRNA (miR)‐494 in cardiomyocyte ...

Spatial patterns of transport‐effective flow at three small confluences: Relation to channel morphology

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 48, Issue 5, Page 1011-1033, April 2023., 2023
Transport‐effective flows at three small confluences accelerate from upstream to downstream within and immediately downstream of the confluences. Patterns of secondary flow vary among the confluences and differ to some extent from patterns documented during non‐transport‐effective events. Channel morphology at two of the three confluences is relatively

Contourite channels – Facies model and channel evolution

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 70, Issue 3, Page 611-644, April 2023., 2023
Abstract Despite the rise in published evidence of deep‐marine bottom current processes and associated deposits there are still very few documented outcrop examples. Herein are reported results of a contourite channel system related to the late Miocene palaeo‐Mediterranean Outflow Water in the Rifian Corridor, Morocco.

Eficiência do politungstato de sódio no fracionamento densimétrico da matéria orgânica do solo Efficiency of sodium polytungstate in density fractionation of soil organic matter

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ciência do Solo, 2007
