Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.

Black Hole Clustering: Gravity-Based Approach with No Predetermined Parameters

open access: yesData Science Journal
Clustering is a fundamental technique in data mining and machine learning, aiming to group data elements into related clusters. However, traditional clustering algorithms, such as K-means, suffer from limitations such as the need for user-defined ...

Methods of Hierarchical Clustering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We survey agglomerative hierarchical clustering algorithms and discuss efficient implementations that are available in R and other software environments. We look at hierarchical self-organizing maps, and mixture models.

Molecular bases of circadian magnesium rhythms across eukaryotes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circadian rhythms in intracellular [Mg2+] exist across eukaryotic kingdoms. Central roles for Mg2+ in metabolism suggest that Mg2+ rhythms could regulate daily cellular energy and metabolism. In this Perspective paper, we propose that ancestral prokaryotic transport proteins could be responsible for mediating Mg2+ rhythms and posit a feedback model ...

Cross-Modal Hashing Retrieval Based on Density Clustering

open access: yesIEEE Access
Cross-modal hashing retrieval methods have attracted much attention for their effectiveness and efficiency. However, most of the existing hashing methods have the problem of how to precisely learn potential correlations between different modalities from ...

VSCAN: An Enhanced Video Summarization using Density-based Spatial Clustering

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we present VSCAN, a novel approach for generating static video summaries. This approach is based on a modified DBSCAN clustering algorithm to summarize the video content utilizing both color and texture features of the video frames.

Interplay between circadian and other transcription factors—Implications for cycling transcriptome reprogramming

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

An Effective Algorithm Based on Density Clustering Framework

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Clustering analysis has the very broad applications on data analysis, such as data mining, machine learning, and information retrieval. In practice, most of clustering algorithms suffer from the effects of noises, different densities and shapes, cluster ...

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Driver fixation region division–oriented clustering method based on the density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise and the mathematical morphology clustering

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
A clustering method that combined density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise with mathematical morphology clustering is proposed to adapt to the features of driver’s fixation such as points’ dispersion and fixation regions’ irregularity ...
