A custom auricular implant healing abutment: A dental technique

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry
Skin overgrowth is a complication that hinders bone-anchored prosthetic ear rehabilitation. In order to accurately transfer the healing skin for prosthetic reconstruction, this article introduces a custom-made autopolymerizing acrylic resin auricular cap (button) through indirect pick up of the metal housing.

Primary Stability Following Abutment Preparation of One-Piece Dental Implants

The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, 2013
One-piece dental implants are commonly used for the immediate restoration of missing teeth. In most cases, the clinician has to prepare the abutment intraorally to ensure a proper emergence profile and abutment angulation. However, this procedure might impair primary stability and thus potentially compromise osseointegration.

Miniaturized Electromagnetic Device Abutment Improves Stability of the Dental Implants

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2019
Background: The overall success and predictability of dental implant treatment hinge on the primary stability, direct bone-to implant contact formation, and quantity and/or quality of residual bone. Pulsed electromagnetic field has been reported to increase bone regeneration in various clinical situations.

Root Fracture of Abutment Teeth for Partial Removable Dental Prostheses

The International Journal of Prosthodontics, 2016
Root fracture is a common and serious cause of abutment tooth loss. No studies to date have comprehensively assessed the individual contributions of the factors that increase stress on abutment teeth. The purpose of this study was to analyze the stress distribution in abutment teeth based on a three-dimensional finite element model and to analyze the ...

Glass fiber‐reinforced abutments for dental implants. A pilot study

Clinical Oral Implants Research, 2001
Abstract: Titanium abutments in dental implants shine through all‐ceramic crowns and therefore limit excellent esthetic results. Prototypes of tooth‐colored fiber‐reinforced abutments were investigated to avoid the shining‐through effect. In vitro, the fracture strength was determined after thermal cycling and mechanical loading of all‐ceramic single ...

Retrieving a “frozen” over‐torqued altered dental implant healing abutment: A dental technique

Journal of Prosthodontics
AbstractThis report describes a method for retrieval of an over‐torqued and altered dental healing abutment using a conservative approach with readily available armamentarium. The previously unretrievable prosthetic component had been modified to support an implant crown prosthesis which required replacement.

Biological Assessment of Used Dental Implant Healing Abutments

2020
Objective: To determine if healing abutments (HA) can be truly “decontaminated” and to evaluate 4 decontamination strategies, available in most clinical settings, to determine the extent to which biomaterial can be removed compared to new unused HA. Methods: Forty HA were collected from subjects with prior implant placement were randomly distributed ...

A Study on Screw Loosening in Dental Implant Abutment

Critical Reviews in Biomedical Engineering
Dental implants are integral in replacing missing teeth, providing durability and natural aesthetics through osseointegration-a process where the implant fuses with the jawbone to support a prosthesis. However, screw loosening presents significant challenges, potentially leading to implant failure, bone loss, and peri-implantitis.

Abutment Screw Loosening Due to Dental Laboratory Error.

Compendium of continuing education in dentistry (Jamesburg, N.J. : 1995), 2021
Abutment screw loosening (ASL) is a fairly common problem that adversely affects the longterm success of a dental implant restoration. Dental laboratory error can play a role in the etiology of ASL. This article presents three cases that demonstrate how laboratory errors in the fabrication of implant restorations and mismanagement of abutment surfaces ...
