Deformation of Dental Abutment Screw after Tightening and Loosening

Key Engineering Materials, 2007
To evaluate the mechanical deformation phenomena of dental abutment screw after tightening and loosening, five species of abutments were selected (3i-three, Avana- two) respectively by two pieces. The abutment screws were repeatedly tightened and removed 20 times with a digital controller.

INFLUENCE OF ABUTMENT DESIGN ON THE SUCCESS OF DENTAL IMPLANTS

Journal of Biomechanics, 2012
Abutment angulation is one of the numerous biomechanical variables involved in implant dentistry that need scientific evaluation [Saab, 2007]. The aim of the present study was to investigate experimentally and numerically the influence of a fine threadedagainst a roughenedcervical region of immediately loaded dental implants in combination with ...

Miniaturized Electromagnetic Device Abutment Improves Stability of the Dental Implants

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 2019
Background: The overall success and predictability of dental implant treatment hinge on the primary stability, direct bone-to implant contact formation, and quantity and/or quality of residual bone. Pulsed electromagnetic field has been reported to increase bone regeneration in various clinical situations.

Differences in micromorphology of the implant–abutment junction for original and third-party abutments on a representative dental implant

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2019
Evidence for micromorphology and precision of fit of third-party prosthetic components compared with the original manufacturer's components is lacking. The purpose of this in vitro pilot study was to evaluate the micromorphological differences among different commercial brands of zirconia, titanium, and gold abutments for dental implants in terms of ...

In Vitro Evaluation of the Removal Force of Abutments in Frictional Dental Implants

Journal of Oral Implantology, 2011
The objective of the present work was to determine some force parameters for removal of an abutment from a dental implant in a frictional system (locking taper, 1.23 degrees). Ten implants of the same length (11 mm) and different diameters were selected, along with 10 straight abutments (13 mm length) with different diameters.

CAD-CAM custom healing abutments: A dental technique

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry
Custom healing abutments are important in establishing optimal esthetics for prosthesis-driven, implant-supported restorations. This report demonstrates a technique for constructing a custom healing abutment with computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing to save chairside time and provide predictable results.

Probabilistic analysis of preload in the abutment screw of a dental implant complex

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2008
Screw loosening is a problem for a percentage of implants. A probabilistic analysis to determine the cumulative probability distribution of the preload, the probability of obtaining an optimal preload, and the probabilistic sensitivities identifying important variables is lacking. The purpose of this study was to examine the inherent variability of ...

A Study on Screw Loosening in Dental Implant Abutment

Critical Reviews in Biomedical Engineering
Dental implants are integral in replacing missing teeth, providing durability and natural aesthetics through osseointegration-a process where the implant fuses with the jawbone to support a prosthesis. However, screw loosening presents significant challenges, potentially leading to implant failure, bone loss, and peri-implantitis.

A custom auricular implant healing abutment: A dental technique

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry
Skin overgrowth is a complication that hinders bone-anchored prosthetic ear rehabilitation. In order to accurately transfer the healing skin for prosthetic reconstruction, this article introduces a custom-made autopolymerizing acrylic resin auricular cap (button) through indirect pick up of the metal housing.

Micromotion and dynamic fatigue properties of the dental implant–abutment interface

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2001
Clinical loading may result in micromotion and metal fatigue in apparently stable implant screw joints. This micromotion may contribute to tissue inflammation and prosthesis failure. This study investigated dental implant screw joint micromotion and dynamic fatigue as a function of varied preload torque applied to abutment screws when tested under ...
