Hypersensitivity to Dental Alloys

2018
Most dental appliances to restore or replace decayed teeth are (partially) composed of alloys that may contain a large variety of metals. Corrosion is an inevitable chemical reaction between the oral environment and dental alloys that may lead to substantial and clinically relevant ion release and in turn result in adverse reactions like ...

Removal of dental alloys and titanium attenuates trace metals and biological effects on liver and kidney.

Chemosphere, 2019
To determine whether the potential effects on liver and kidney caused by dental alloys could be reduced or terminated by the removal of nickel-chromium (Ni-Cr) alloy, cobalt-chromium (Co-Cr) alloy, and commercially pure titanium (CP-Ti), they were placed

A Survey of Dental Alloys

The Journal of the American Dental Association, 1949
No other material is so universally and successfully employed in restoring carious teeth to a state of usefulness as is dental amalgam. Besides forming such a large proportion of the fillings, the number of amalgam restorations made annually is tremendous. The office of the Surgeon General stated that 68,170,326 permanent fillings were inserted by Army

The burnishability of dental casting alloys

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1976
1. A comparison of Table I with Table IV indicates that all the gold alloys have considerably lower burnishability numbers than are indicated by ADA specification No. 5 for the softened condition. In fact, they are even more burnishable in the hardened condition than specified for Type II alloys. 2.

EDXRS analysis of dental alloys

X-Ray Spectrometry, 2000
Dental alloys, having a wide range of compositions and different matrices, were analyzed with energy-dispersive x-ray spectrometry (EDXRS) and glow discharge optical spectrometry (GDOS) to verify and discuss the capabilities of EDXRS in dental alloy characterization and to compare the EDXRS data with the GDOS data. The metallurgical characterization of

Chemical Composition of Dental Gold Casting Alloy and Dental Wrought Gold Alloys

Journal of Dental Research, 1969
The chemical composition of dental casting gold alloys and dental wrought gold wire alloys was determined by use of a modification of a previously described X-ray emission method. Since 1928 and 1932 there has been little change in either type of alloy; there has been a decrease in platinum content in both, and 1 % nickel is now found in wire alloys.

Alternative Dental Casting Alloys

Dental Clinics of North America, 1983
The diversity of alloys available to the dental practitioner has never been more extensive. We now have the opportunity to select alloys based on the individual patient's specific biologic, functional, and economic requirements. There is no one alloy suitable for all applications, because in metallurgy there is a constant trade-off in properties as ...

Design of high-ductile medium entropy alloys for dental implants.

Materials Science and Engineering C: Materials for Biological Applications, 2020
Developing new materials with high strength and ductility, low modulus and high biocompatibility is a continuing demand in the field of surgical implants. Inspired by the high-entropy design philosophy, two medium entropy alloys (MEAs), i.e.

Application of titanium and titanium alloys to fixed dental prostheses.

Journal of Prosthodontic Research, 2019
PURPOSE Titanium and titanium alloys are one of the main metallic materials in the medical and dental fields because of their biocompatibility. In this review, the application of titanium and its alloys as the substitute materials for Ag-Pd-Au alloy in ...
