Processing and bonding of dental ceramics

2013
This chapter gives readers a concise introduction to ceramic dental biomaterials, draws attention to their surface pretreatment and to silane primers used before cementation, and discusses several findings based on experimental laboratory studies. Chemical aspects related to ceramic materials, their pretreatment (conditioning) and their cementation ...

Dental Adhesion and the All‐Bond System

Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, 1991
The All‐Bond dentin enamel bonding system is designed to be used for most dental applications when adhesion is needed. It is claimed that the system will bond to most surfaces encountered in the intraoral environment. This report examines the results obtained when the All‐Bond dentln‐enamel bonding system is used to bond to enamel, dentin, porcelain ...

Hypersensitivity to dental composites and resin-bonding agents

Dental Update, 2016
Adverse reactions to dental materials are not an uncommon occurrence, although hypersensitivity has gained much renewed interest in light of public concerns over the safety of dental materials. Hypersensitivity can affect both patients and dental professionals and may manifest as either allergic contact dermatitis or stomatitis.

Shear bond strength of dental amalgam bonded to dentin.

American journal of dentistry, 1991
The objective of this study was to determine the shear bond strength of dental amalgam bonded to dentin with adhesives. Four groups of 15 permanent posterior teeth were used in this study. The occlusal enamel of the teeth was removed to produce a flat dentin surface. The teeth were embedded in phenolic rings with acrylic resin.

Tensile Bond Strength of Dental Porcelain to Dental Composite Resins

1992
The aim of the present study was to evaluate the in vitro tensile bond strength of specimens of porcelain bonded to dual curing dental composite using two organosilane materials: Scothcprime Ceramic Primer (3M, Co., St. Paul, Mn, USA) and Silanit (Vivadent, Schaan, Liecthstein). Bond stremgth was between 9.2 and 10.4 MPa.

Ceramic bonding to a dental gold–titanium alloy

Biomaterials, 2002
Investigations of the metal-ceramic bonding of the alloy Au98.2Ti1.7Ir0.1 (wt) in comparison with a well-approved traditional Au-Pt-Pd-based alloy were performed. Bond strength of both alloys, measured with a three-point flexure bond test, was in the same order of magnitude. Failure mode was different for both alloys.

Resin Bonding To Oxide Ceramics For Dental Restorations

Journal of Adhesion Science and Technology, 2009
Bonding to silica-based dental ceramics using etching techniques and silanization is well established, but for bonding of dental oxide ceramics with little or no silica no particular method is generally accepted. Therefore, the purpose of this review is to summarize the current knowledge on bonding to dental oxide ceramics.

[Dental tissue-composite bonding. SEM study].

Dental Cadmos, 1991
The Authors investigated the different operative methods effects in the transition zone between human fresh teeth calcified tissues and a composite material. Morphological observations, done by means of standard and back scattered scanning electron microscopy, demonstrated the Gluma adhesion system efficiency towards enamel and dentin if manufacturing ...
