Gingival Recession, Oral Hygiene and Associated Factors Among Tanzanian Women. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Females are generally more motivated with regard to oral hygiene practices and thus brush their teeth more frequently than males. To determine the prevalence of gingival recession, oral hygiene status, oral hygiene practices and associated factors in ...

Powder Metallurgy Preparation of Metastable β Ti–Cr–Ge Alloys for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops metastable β Ti–Cr–Ge alloys using powder metallurgy for biomedical implants. The Ti–10Cr–2Ge alloy exhibits superior mechanical performance with high yield strength (>1100 MPa), low Young's modulus (<85 GPa), and excellent strain hardening behavior.

Epidemiological characteristics of dogs with dental calculus: 392 cases (2012-2020)

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Agronomy and Animal Industries
Dental calculus is a local irritant to adjacent soft tissues, causing an inflammatory response that contributes to the development of periodontal diseases. Mineralized plaque contains bacterial toxins, which can lead to systemic infections.

Differential reflectometry versus tactile sense detection of subgingival calculus in dentistry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Detecting dental calculus is clinically challenging in dentistry. This study used typodonts with extracted premolar and molar teeth and simulated gingival tissue to compare the performance of differential reflectometry and periodontal probing. A total of

Extracorporeal Catalytic Hemoperfusion Therapy for Refractory Septic Shock Using Ceria Nanoparticle‐Embedded Porous Microbeads

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an extracorporeal hemoperfusion system incorporating porous microbeads embedded with autocatalytic ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) for targeted reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging in septic shock. The blood‐compatible hemoperfusion cartridge demonstrated significant improvements in survival, hemodynamic stability, and organ ...

Photothermal Hydrogel with Mn3O4 Nanoparticles Alleviates Intervertebral Disc Degeneration by Scavenging ROS and Regulating Extracellular Matrix Metabolism

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The MPTT‐nanozyme‐hydrogel system (Mn3O4@ChS‐HA) provides a multifunctional therapeutic strategy for intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD), effectively targeting oxidative stress and enhancing AF repair by restoring extracellular matrix (ECM) and redox homeostasis.
