Proteomic evidence of dietary sources in ancient dental calculus
Archaeological dental calculus has emerged as a rich source of ancient biomolecules, including proteins. Previous analyses of proteins extracted from ancient dental calculus revealed the presence of the dietary milk protein β-lactoglobulin, providing ...

A bioengineered skin equivalent composed of electrospun poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) and the bioactive peptide Fmoc‐FRGD is developed for severe burn treatment. This scaffold promotes full‐thickness skin regeneration by supporting cellular adhesion and integration. In‐vitro and in‐vivo studies show enhanced mechanical stability, accelerated wound closure,

A convolutional neural network for teeth margin detection on 3-dimensional dental meshes [PDF]
We proposed a convolutional neural network for vertex classification on 3-dimensional dental meshes, and used it to detect teeth margins. An expanding layer was constructed to collect statistic values of neighbor vertex features and compute new features for each vertex with convolutional neural networks.

Tunable Thermoshrinkable Hydrogels for 4D Fabrication of Cell‐Seeded Channels
A thermoresponsive polymer with methacrylate groups for photo‐cross‐linking, based on polyethylene glycol, N‐isopropylacrylamide, and 2‐hydroxyethyl acrylate is synthetized to yield hydrogels that shrink upon temperature increase. The new polymer enables the fabrication of cell‐laden perfusable channels with diameters below 200 µm by combining ...

In situ Measurement of Airborne Particle Concentration in a Real Dental Office: Implications for Disease Transmission [PDF]
Recent guidelines by WHO recommend delaying non-essential oral health care amid COVID-19 pandemic and call for research on aerosol generated during dental procedures. Thus, this study aims to assess the mechanisms of dental aerosol dispersion in dental offices and to provide recommendations based on a quantitative study to minimize infection ...

Exosomes can reduce tissue damage in temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA), but rapid clearance limits their efficacy. This study encapsulates exosomes in hyaluronic acid hydrogels for controlled release. In a rat model, hydrogel‐encapsulated exosomes outperform free exosomes in preserving bone integrity and reducing tissue destruction ...

Universal Hydrogel Carrier Enhances Bone Graft Success: Preclinical and Clinical Evaluation
TX hydrogel improves the delivery of different types of particulate bone grafts, maintaining them at the implantation sites, and resulting in favorable bone regenerative outcomes. Abstract Orthopedic, maxillofacial, and complex dentoalveolar bone grafting procedures that require donor‐site bone harvesting can be associated with post‐surgical ...

Inorganic Nanomaterials Meet the Immune System: An Intricate Balance
Metal nanomaterials influence the immune responses, such as cytokine production and T‐cell activity. Unintended immune modulation can have significant consequences while its fine‐tuning may transform the oncology care. Within this review, a critical analysis is offered regarding the nano/immune‐interaction and suggests the future research directions to

New insights into Neolithic milk consumption through proteomic analysis of dental calculus
There has long been debate over the origins of dairy consumption within European populations. Whilst it was previously assumed that lactase persistence (LP) was under positive selection following the advent of agriculture, recent genetic studies of ...
