The Geometry of Layer 2/3 Cortical Sound Processing in Slow Wave Sleep

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep is associated with a sensory disconnection whose mechanisms remain elusive. Large neuronal population recordings in the auditory cortex revealed that, in NREM sleep, the neural code for sounds is highly similar to wakefulness, but coordinated modulations of neuron responsiveness intermittently disconnect the local cortical networks from sensory ...

Interfacial Coordination‐Engineered Emulgel Modulates the Osteo‐Immune Microenvironment in Periodontitis Treatment Via HIF1 Signaling Pathway‐Induced Metabolic Reprogramming

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of HIPPE‐QU‐mediated periodontal regeneration. a) Fabrication process and microstructure of HIPPE‐QU. b) Antimicrobial and immunomodulatory HIPPE‐QU hydrogel for periodontal regeneration. HIPPE‐QU hydrogel co‐delivers HA‐Cu, GNPs, and QU, providing antimicrobial effects and reprogramming the immune microenvironment to promote ...

Engineering Dimensional Configuration of Single‐Atom S‐Cu‐S Sites as Reversible Electron Station for Enhanced Peroxidase‐Mimicking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
L‐cysteine triggers auto‐assembly of POD‐like 3D biomimetic S‐Cu‐S single‐atom nanozymes on MoS2 (MoCC). MoCC shows 16.3‐fold higher catalytic velocity and 17.9‐fold greater affinity than HRP, enabling efficient •OH generation via enhanced electron inversion and transfer.

Uric Acid Functions as an Endogenous Modulator of Microglial Function and Amyloid Clearance in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Higher serum UA levels are associated with reduced AD risk in epidemiological studies. UA enhances microglial phagocytic capacity primarily by restoring CD36 and TREM2 receptor recycling that is impaired by Aβ exposure. Therapeutically, UA supplementation improves cognitive function and reduces neuropathology in AD mouse model by enhancing microglial ...

Site‐Specific Mitochondrial RNA N1‐Methyladenosine Demethylation via an Engineered MTS‐PUF‐ALKBH3 Fusion Protein

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A CRISPR‐free mitochondrial RNA m1A demethylation (MRD) editor combining MTS, PUF proteins, and ALKBH3 enables precise m1A removal from mitochondrial mRNA and tRNA, which influences mitochondrial protein levels, cellular proliferation, ATP production, and mitochondrial respiration. Subsequently, in vivo demethylation of the m1A modification is achieved

Temporal Stretch‐Induced Nuclear Mechanosensing Coordinates Early Chromatin Accessibility and Genome Protection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cyclic stretching of fibroblasts triggers coordinated nuclear mechanosensing events, including calcium ion release, perinuclear actin assembly, emerin translocation, and H3K9me3 loss, increasing chromatin accessibility for specific genes related to mechanotransduction and repair.

A Minimally Invasive Framework Reveals Region‐Specific Cerebrovascular Remodeling in Aging Using Intravital Functional Ultrasound Imaging and Ultrasound Localization Microscopy (fUS‐ULM)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐resolution intravital imaging platform combining functional ultrasound and localization microscopy enables longitudinal, minimally invasive assessment of cerebrovascular function in aging studies. The present investigation reveals aging‐related reductions in neurovascular coupling, arteriole‐to‐venule ratio and vascular density, introducing a ...
