High‐Concentration Hydrogen Peroxide Gels Containing Calcium Polyphosphate Associated With Violet Led Light: Bleaching Efficacy and Effects on Enamel Properties

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the effect of violet LED light (VL) and hydrogen peroxide (HP) in‐office bleaching gels supplemented with calcium polyphosphate (CaPP) or calcium gluconate (GU): Materials and Methods Bovine enamel blocks (n = 10) were randomly assigned: commercial HP gel, commercial HP gel with GU, or experimental 35% HP with or without

Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms of Salivary Human Beta Defensins 1 in Relation to Dental Caries

open access: yesMedical Journal of Babylon
Background: The role of genetics in determining an individual’s susceptibility to caries is significant, with the human Beta-Defensin 1 gene (DEFB1), responsible for encoding the human β-defensin 1 (hBD1) antimicrobial peptide, being a potential ...

Mechanical Properties of Dental Enamel in Patients with Genetic Caries Susceptibility

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences
This study evaluated the physicochemical and morphological properties of tooth enamel in patients with caries-predisposing SNPs (rs4694075 in AMBN and rs2337359 in TUFT1 genes), based on the DMFT index. We included 40 of 120 individuals (aged 19–43), collecting stimulated saliva and 58 healthy teeth extracted for orthodontic/surgical reasons.

Dental Caries and Taste Receptor Genes

open access: yes, 2015
Dental caries is one of the most prevalent diseases worldwide and the most common chronic childhood disease in the United States. Although previous studies suggest the importance of genetic factors, not too much is known about dental caries in relation ...

Effects of Bleaching Protocols on the Esthetic Outcome and Surface Integrity of Enamel Treated With an Ammonia‐Free Silver Fluoride Solution

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the effects of three bleaching protocols on the color stability and surface roughness of enamel previously treated with a water‐based, ammonia‐free silver fluoride solution (Riva Star Aqua). Materials and Methods Eighty‐eight human enamel/dentin specimens were demineralized and treated with Riva Star Aqua, divided into

Unraveling Oral Dysbiosis: Microbial Complexity in Common Oral Diseases. [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiologyopen
The oral microbiome undergoes dynamic establishment from birth, maturing into a resilient ecosystem. Perturbation of this homeostasis—driven by dietary, immunological, and anatomical factors—triggers dysbiosis, which underpins the pathogenesis of major oral diseases, including dental caries, periodontal disease, salivary gland disorders, oral mucosal ...

The association between immune response genes and dental caries susceptibility [PDF]

open access: yes
Introduction: Dental caries is the most common chronic disease in the world. Being a multifactorial disease, many aspects affect the development of dental caries, including the role of the immune system in maintaining a healthy oral cavity.
