AbstractIntroductionThis study aimed to investigate the difference between senior dental students and prosthodontic faculty members regarding their opinions, attitudes and adoption of six split‐cast techniques for remounting complete dentures. The accuracy of each technique for measurements of the vertical and the anteroposterior dimensions was ...

To reduce the risk of implant and prosthetic complications, implant-supported prostheses should be passive. A verification device is used to verify the abutment analog position on the definitive cast, and hence its accuracy. This article describes the fabrication of a Type IV stone implant verification device for verifying the accuracy of the ...

Simple Technique to Reorient Different Casts of Same Patient on a Dental Surveyor
Journal of Prosthodontics, 2016AbstractAccurate planning for the framework design of removable partial dentures requires careful analysis of the diagnostic cast with a dental surveyor to determine the optimal path of placement. Some techniques described in the literature are helpful in reorienting the same cast on the surveyor, including the tripod marking method; however, there is ...

The fit of certain dental casting alloys using different investing materials and techniques
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1966Abstract The relative fit of castings for normal tooth preparations and the Bureau of Standards MOD die were investigated. As used, the phosphate investments gave a degree of fit comparable with the thermal expansion gypsum types followed in order by ethyl silicate and hygroscopic materials.

The holodent system, a new technique for measurement and storage of dental casts
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1992A system for producing holograms and for three-dimensional measuring on holograms is described. The precision of the system was evaluated when three-dimensional measurements were made on (1) a holographic image superimposed on the corresponding object and (2) two superimposed holographic images of the same object.

This article describes a method of integrating digital dental casts into cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans in virtual implant planning in situations with an excessive number of metal artifacts. This technique requires the use of a prefabricated registration tray to provide a common landmark; is noninvasive, minimally time-consuming, and cost ...

Holodent system: a new technique for measurement and storage of dental casts
SPIE Proceedings, 1990ABSTRACT A system for producing holograms and for three dimensional measurement of dental casts is described. Measurements were performed on a metal testpiece with sharp well-defined contours and on a dental cast. Measurement of the testpiece gave a precision of0.02 0.11 mm for x, y and z coordinates. Corresponding figures for the dental cast were 0.03

The biologically oriented preparation technique (BOPT) uses a vertical tooth preparation and simultaneously a controlled rotary instrumentation of the gingival sulcus. The resulting blood clot is stabilized with the interim restoration. However, accurate transfer of the emergence profile of the interim crown to the definitive restoration is essential ...

A study was made of the effect of mould orientation on the mechanical properties of eight dental cobalt-chromium alloys prepared by centrifugal casting. In general, tensile test bars cast with their length horizontal rather than vertical to the induced gravitational field yielded superior elongation and ultimate tensile strength values.
