Alteration of odontoblast osteonectin expression following dental cavity preparation.
Archives of Oral Biology, 2001Cavity preparation can increase the active synthesis and secretion of non-collagenous proteins by odontoblasts, thus resulting in the deposition of tertiary dentine. In this study, the effect of cavity preparation on osteonectin expression was examined in odontoblasts of the rat tooth pulp. A class V cavity was prepared in rat first molars to stimulate

A Cavity Preparation Evaluation System in the Skill Assessment of Dental Students.
Journal of Dental Education, 2016The aim of this study was to compare a computerized, laser-scanning Cavity Preparation Skill Evaluation System (CPSES) with conventional teachers' eye-hand grading assessment of dental students' Class I cavity preparation evaluations. Thirty-eight cavity

A clinical evaluation of a high-pulse rate erbium:YAG laser for dental cavity preparation
International Congress Series, 2003A wave length of Er:YAG laser is 2940 nm; it has high absorbability in water, and is notable as dental hard tissue cutter. Previous study at 10-Hz irradiation showed good result in vivo. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of the higher pulse rate, 30 Hz, Er:YAG laser for adhesive resin cavity preparation in vivo.

In the case of teeth with pulp canal calcification (PCC) and apical pathology or pulpitis, root canal treatment can be very challenging. PCC are common sequelae of dental trauma but can also occur with stimuli such as caries, bruxism, or after placing a ...

Repair in the human dental pulp following cavity preparation
Archives of Oral Biology, 1970Abstract The reactions following cavity preparation with a Borden air turbine handpiece were studied in ninety-three caries-free young premolar teeth. Immediate damage to the dental pulp was greater in air-cooled than water-cooled specimens and this greater degree of injury was evident up to 15 days post-operatively.
