Periodontal and orthodontic management of impacted canines
Abstract The maxillary and mandibular canines are described by many clinicians as the “cornerstone” of the arch. When in their optimal position, they play a critical role in providing a well‐balanced occlusal scheme that contributes toward functional as well as neuromuscular stability, harmony, esthetics, and dentofacial balance.

Thickness of the dental (radicular) cementum: a parameter for estimating age.
The present study used 127 extracted teeth from people aged 16 to 90 years old. The aim of this research was to verify the reliability of the method using a single dental parameter based on the correlation of the radicular cementum thickness and the chronological age of the subject.

Inflammation and mechanical force‐induced bone remodeling
Abstract Periodontitis arises from imbalanced host–microbe interactions, leading to dysbiosis and destructive inflammation. The host's innate and adaptive immune responses produce pro‐inflammatory mediators that stimulate destructive events, which cause loss of alveolar bone and connective tissue attachment.

[Microstructure of dental cementum and individual biological age estimation].
Evaluation of annual incremental lines of dental cementum is one of potentially valuable methods for biological age estimation in forensic anthropology. The objective of this work was to elucidate the relation between the number of those lines and the chronological age of an individual.

30 years of enamel matrix derivative: Mimicking tooth development as a clinical concept
Abstract The use of growth factors (GFs) has become a cornerstone of modern regenerative periodontology. While the extent to which GFs enhance tissue regeneration compared to other biomaterials was initially uncertain, it is now well established that GFs play a critical role in the regeneration of various tissue types.

Hyaluronic acid: A novel approach in regenerative/reconstructive periodontal therapy?
Abstract Background Although hyaluronic acid (HA) has long been used for many medical applications, only in recent years has it gained greater popularity in the field of periodontics because of its biological effects during wound healing. Even today, most clinicians are not aware that more than one type of HA exists and that the extent of its ...
