Jebel Moya (Sudan): new dates from a mortuary complex at the southern Meroitic frontier [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This paper proposes a new chronology for the burial complex at Jebel Moya, south-central Sudan. It reassesses the body of evidence from Sir Henry Wellcome's original 1911–1914 excavations in order to place the site within a firm chronological framework ...

Crystalline Structure Assessment of Ceramic Veneered Co-Cr-W Dental Alloy Substructures Obtained by Selective Laser Melting—A Pilot Study

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2023
The aim of this work is to assess the crystalline structure modification of an SLM Co-Cr-W dental alloy, veneered with two different ceramics, by means of X-ray diffraction (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and scanning electron microscopy, coupled ...

An Implanted Tooth That Can Feel

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
To endow the implanted tooth with masticatory perception, herein we demonstrate that a 3D‐printed piezoelectric‐core/robust‐sheath implanted tooth can rebuild the sensing feedback, serving as “mechanoreceptors” in converting the mechanical chewing force to electrical signals, and up to brain through surrounding alveolar nerve system.

Effect of Microstructural Features and Al2O3 Doping on Aging Resistance, Mechanical Properties and Crack Propagation in 3Y-TZP Plate Ceramics for Dental Restorations: A Comprehensive Peridynamics Study [PDF]

open access: yesMechanics of Advanced Composite Structures
This study investigates the effects of microstructural features, nanoporosity, and micro-cracks on macro-crack propagation in 3Y-TZP plate ceramics doped with Al2O3 (0 to 0.5 wt%) for dental restoration applications, utilizing peridynamics (PD) theory ...

ALKBH3 m1A Demethylase Deficiency Reduces Alzheimer's Amyloid‐β Pathology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies that ALKBH3‐driven m1A demethylation orchestrates Alzheimer's disease progression by disrupting mitochondrial and synaptic homeostasis. This epitranscriptomic mechanism suppresses PINK1‐mediated mitophagy via m1A erasure, leading to mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, elevated Aβ production, and impaired microglial ...

Aptamer‐Directed Porous DNA Nanocomposite Hydrogel for Active Pulp Preservation: Immunomodulation, Stem Cell Recruitment and Reparative Dentinogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents an injectable DNA‐based porous hydrogel integrating catechol motifs and targeting aptamers for pulpitis management. Upon in situ crosslinking, the scaffold actively recruits endogenous dental pulp stem cells, restores redox homeostasis, and modulates immune responses.

Artificial Intelligence‐Driven Insights into Electrospinning: Machine Learning Models to Predict Cotton‐Wool‐Like Structure of Electrospun Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Electrospinning allows the fabrication of fibrous 3D cotton‐wool‐like scaffolds for tissue engineering. Optimizing this process traditionally relies on trial‐and‐error approaches, and artificial intelligence (AI)‐based tools can support it, with the prediction of fiber properties. This work uses machine learning to classify and predict the structure of
