Demonstration of virtual imaging trial applications for optimization and education of dento‐maxillofacial CBCT imaging

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background A number of studies have suggested that there is a need for improved understanding of dento‐maxillofacial cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) technology, and to establish optimized imaging protocols. While several ex vivo/in vitro studies, along with a few in vivo studies, have addressed this topic, virtual imaging trials could ...

Radiological Landmarks as an Aid in the Interpretation of Rodent Skull Extra‐Oral Projections

open access: yesZoo Biology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Knowledge of the radiographic anatomy of rodent skulls is essential for accurately interpreting extra‐oral radiographs, a non‐invasive diagnostic tool commonly used in veterinary practice. Due to the complexity of the skull and the potential for distortion in two‐dimensional views, a systematic evaluation of anatomical structures is necessary.

The validity of teledentistry examinations during the COVID‐19 pandemic in Sydney, Australia

open access: yesAustralian Dental Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background During the COVID‐19 pandemic, non‐urgent dental treatments were deferred. To identify and prioritize urgent dental patients, teledentistry was implemented across NSW public dental services. This study aimed to establish the validity of teledentistry examinations to provide a clinical diagnosis compared to face‐to‐face, clinical ...

Diagnosis of Approximal Caries after Delayed Scanning of Photostimulable Phosphor Plates

open access: yesJournal of Dentistry, 2017
Statement of the Problem: Considering the high diagnostic accuracy and wide dynamic range of photostimulable phosphor plates (PSPs), they can be a good alternative for radiographic films.

Material Decomposed Cargo Imaging with Dual Energy Megavoltage Radiography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Cargo imaging with Megavoltage (MV) radiography has important applications for detecting illicit materials. It enables decomposing and quantifying materials with different atomic numbers by imaging cargo at two different x-ray energies, or dual energy (DE) radiography.

Fractal dimension analysis in digital periapical radiographs: A diagnostic indicator of osteoporosis in post-menopausal women

open access: yesJournal of Indian Academy of Oral Medicine and Radiology, 2017
Objectives: To assess the alveolar bone density by fractal dimension (FD) analysis in radiovisiograph of postmenopausal women of mandibular posterior region and to correlate FD values with t-scores of quantitative ultrasound of the calcaneus bone ...

A Laboratory Investigation of the Effectiveness of Different Acids in Removing Mineral Trioxide Aggregate From Simulated Root Canals

open access: yesAustralian Endodontic Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The aim was to compare the effectiveness of acids in removing MTA from root canals. Fifty acrylic blocks were filled with MTA and divided into groups – 10% hydrochloric acid; 10% citric acid; 2% acetic acid; 2% carbonic acid and 20% tartaric acid. MTA was removed with the acids, plus ultrasonic tips and rotary files.
