Eosinophils‐Induced Lumican Secretion by Synovial Fibroblasts Alleviates Cartilage Degradation via the TGF‐β Pathway Mediated by Anxa1 Binding

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Eosinophils play a crucial role in the progression of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis (TMJOA). This study demonstrates that eosinophils, induced by OVA/IL‐5, promote Lumican secretion in the synovium, which binds to Annexin A1 in chondrocytes, inhibiting transforming growth factor β2 and Smad2/3 phosphorylation.

Tall Stature and Scoliosis Associated With a Novel Homozygous Loss‐of‐Function Missense Variant in NPR3

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT NPR3‐related tall stature is characterized by tall stature, elongated big toes, and additional epiphyses in hand and foot bones. The condition is caused by biallelic loss‐of‐function variants affecting natriuretic peptide receptor 3 (NPR3). Five individuals from four different families have been reported.

Expertise‐inspired artificial intelligence pipeline for clinically applicable reconstruction of tooth‐centric radial planes: Development and multicenter validation

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The expertise‐inspired AI pipeline demonstrates significant clinical utility for rapid and precise analysis of dento‐maxillofafcial CBCT and benefits for intelligent oral health management. Abstract Owing to the tooth‐centered nature of most oral diseases, the tooth‐centric radial plane of cone‐beam computed tomography (CBCT) depicts the anatomical and

A smile I could recognise in a thousand: Automatic identification of identity from dental radiography [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In this paper, we present a method to automatically compare multiple radiographs in order to find the identity of a patient out of the dental features. The method is based on the matching of image features, previously extracted by computer vision algorithms for image descriptor recognition.

Scaffolding competence‐based learning design in the dental simulation curriculum

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dental Education, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Introduction Learning in a clinical domain in dentistry is complex and learners may face uncertain clinical scenarios. A simulation curriculum can be designed to have simple clinical scenarios and learning activities which progress in complexity and employ competence assessments of simulated clinical practice before students can undertake ...

Diagnostic Accuracy of Charge-coupled Device Sensor and Photostimulable Phosphor Plate Receptor in the Detection of External Root Resorption In Vitro

open access: yesJournal of Dental Research, Dental Clinics, Dental Prospects, 2015
Background and aims. Early diagnosis of external root resorption is important for accurate treatment. The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of a charge-coupled device (CCD) sensor and a photostimulable phosphor (PSP) plate receptor in the

Variational Autoencoding of Dental Point Clouds [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Digital dentistry has made significant advancements, yet numerous challenges remain. This paper introduces the FDI 16 dataset, an extensive collection of tooth meshes and point clouds. Additionally, we present a novel approach: Variational FoldingNet (VF-Net), a fully probabilistic variational autoencoder for point clouds.

Dental sex dimorphism: Using odontometrics and digital jaw radiography.

open access: yesJournal of forensic dental sciences, 2017
Estimating the gender from the human skeletal remains can guide the forensic investigator in revealing the missing person's identity.(1) To determine the utility of the various parameters taken on the orthopantomographs (mandible) and of odontometrics on tooth remains to estimate the gender.

The distally anchored connective tissue graft platform for papilla enhancement: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background As the need for using dental implants to replace single missing teeth grows, so does the demand for greater esthetic results. However, achieving complete interproximal papillae fill in single‐tooth implant restorations remains a challenge. The distally anchored connective tissue platform is a novel soft tissue augmentation technique
