Nanostructured Surfaces of Dental Implants [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2013
The structural and functional fusion of the surface of the dental implant with the surrounding bone (osseointegration) is crucial for the short and long term outcome of the device. In recent years, the enhancement of bone formation at the bone-implant interface has been achieved through the modulation of osteoblasts adhesion and spreading, induced by ...

Small modifier, big decision: switching to SUMO mode adds weight to cancer stemness in mammary tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Inhibition of protein SUMOylation has been shown to block tumorigenesis; however, the specific mechanisms by which SUMOylation controls the tumor‐initiating capacities remain elusive. Li et al. describe the role of Etv1 SUMOylation in cancer stem cells using mouse models of mammary gland tumorigenesis.

Accuracy of digital impressions versus conventional impressions for 2 implants: an in vitro study evaluating the effect of implant angulation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Implant Dentistry, 2021
Background Accurate implant impression is an essential requirement for the fabrication of implant prosthesis. This in vitro study evaluated the accuracy of digital impressions by intraoral scanner (IOS) systems in comparison to conventional impressions ...

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation Modulates Th17/Treg Balance via JAK/STAT Pathway in ARDS Rats

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) alleviates lung and intestinal injury in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)‐induced acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in rats. This study demonstrates that FMT restores the balance between Th17 and Treg cells, inhibits the JAK/STAT pathway, and modulates cytokine levels, reducing inflammation and lung damage. These

Dental implants – are they better than natural teeth?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, 2018
Nowadays, patients find much information on dental treatment from the Internet. There is a vast amount of information on dental implants, in contrast to the limited information available on natural teeth.

Development of Ternary Magnesium Alloys for Laser Powder Bed Fusion: Optimizing Oxide Layer Thickness

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing of magnesium alloys by laser is difficult because the melting point of the oxide layer is much higher than the evaporation temperature of the metal underneath. Making the oxide layer thinner can solve this problem. Alloying magnesium with strontium makes the oxide layer thinner, especially at 0.5 wt%.
