Marginal leakage of dental restorations subjected to thermal stress

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 1969
Abstract The effects of thermal stress on the microleakage of dental restorations of varying ages were measured with radioisotope. Microleakage around one-week amalgam restorations was increased when the restorations were subjected to 500 temperature cycles.

Validation of a method of quantifying 3D leakage in dental restorations

The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2020
A reliable and validated protocol for nondestructive analysis of the entire restorative interface that could be applicable in studies assessing the adaptation of direct and indirect restorations is lacking. The purpose of this in vitro study was to validate a 3D protocol for microleakage assessment in class II mesio-occluso-distal (MOD) cavities ...

Evaluation of Leakage Flux out of a Dental Magnetic Attachment

2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007
A dental magnetic attachment is a device to retain dental prostheses such as overdentures by magnetic attraction. As compared with mechanical attachments, the magnetic attachment has a superior retention properties due to less lateral pressure to its abutment tooth, and hence it has come to be widely used, particularly for retaining overdentures ...

Experimental Marginal Leakage Around Dental Amalgams Placed in Artificial Cavities

Journal of Dental Research, 1984
Experimental marginal leakage of high- and low-Cu amalgam restorations placed in acrylic teeth, where the cavities were untreated or painted with denatured collagen and/or a CaP slurry, was assessed after specimens were stored in a 1% NaCl solution for ten days and for one yr. All specimens stored for ten days showed severe marginal leakage. High- and

Remedy for dental dam leakage problems

Journal of Endodontics, 1991
Denture adhesive paste is a very sticky adherent substance. When combined with zinc oxide powder, a creamy mixture results. This provides an ideal caulking substance to use as a sealing material during endodontic procedures where leakage of oral fluids is anticipated or has occurred after dental dam placement.

Determination of Endocrine Disruptor Bisphenol-A Leakage from Different Matrices of Dental Resin-based Composite Materials

Current Pharmaceutical Analysis, 2022
Background: Bisphenol A (BPA) derivatives monomers as resins are common components in dental restorative materials and materials used for orthodontic treatment. However, they are a source for BP-A leakage, which can affect adult and child health as an endocrine disruptor.

Comparison and evaluation of leakage flux on various types of dental magnetic attachment

2008 30th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2008
A dental magnetic attachment is a device to retain dental prostheses such as overdentures by magnetic attraction. As compared with mechanical attachments, the dental magnetic attachment has superior characteristics such as easy insertion, good esthetics and less lateral pressure to its abutment tooth. As a result, it has come to be used widely.

Evaluation of Bacterial Leakage in Platform-Switching Dental Implant with Morse Taper Connection Under Thermocycling and Loading Effects: In Vitro Study

The International Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Implants, 2021
The aim of this study was to test in vitro the bacterial microleakage at the Morse taper implant-abutment connection with switched platform subjected to functional load and thermocycling.A total of 48 Morse taper implant-abutment connections with switched platforms (12 implants per group) were used. The abutments were attached to implants and presented

Bacterial contamination of dental chair units in a modern dental hospital caused by leakage from suction system hoses containing extensive biofilm

Journal of Hospital Infection, 2005
Within six months of opening of the new Dublin Dental Hospital in September 1998, areas of corrosion were observed on many of the baseplates of the hospital's 103 dental chair units (DCUs) at the site of attachment of the suction hoses. The corroded areas were heavily contaminated with Pseudomonas spp.
