Old Bones in New Databases: Historical Insights Into Race, Statistics, and Ancestry Estimation in Anthropology

open access: yesAmerican Anthropologist, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article explores the persistence of race in biological anthropology, particularly in the context of ancestry estimation using the Fordisc software. Despite efforts to move away from race‐based typologies since the mid‐20th century, historical notions of race continue to shape scientific methods and technologies in anthropology. By tracing

Health‐Related Quality of Life in Japanese Youth Born Extremely Low‐Birthweight: Impact of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Extremely low‐birthweight (ELBW) infants face an increased risk of physical, cognitive, and psychosocial challenges affecting health‐related quality of life (HRQoL). However, few studies have examined their long‐term prognosis in Japan. We aimed to assess the HRQoL of adolescents and young adults born with ELBW and identified associated ...

Uticaj tehnike postavljanja i polimerizacije na marginalnu adaptaciju kompozitnih ispuna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In contemporary restorative dentistry, dental composites become material of choice for reconstruction of lost tooth structure. In clinical practice it is noticed that positive properties of light-activated composites are compromised by polymerization shrinkage appearance during polymerization. The conversion of monomer molecules into polymer network is

Living on the edge: Pleistocene ice‐free refugia and collared lemming (Dicrostonyx sp.) in the North American High Arctic

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Comparing the morphological variation of North American collared lemming with climatic and geographic features, as well as genetic insight and the ice sheet extend, indicate the strong geographic structure underlying the morphological diversity of the genus, that might be linked with a local Pleistocene survival in the High Arctic.

D‐amino acid oxidase as a chemogenetic tool for spatiotemporally controlled hydrogen peroxide production: The oxygen connection

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose D‐amino acid oxidase (DAO) has been developed as a chemogenetic tool, to precisely manipulate redox levels in tissues and cells by generating H2O2 in the presence of D‐amino acids. The enzyme's significant oxygen consumption during H2O2 production may influence cellular oxygen levels.
