The Relation between Morphology of Maxillary Sinus after Augmentation in Three Classification Methods and Residual Bone Height: A Retrospective Study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, 2022
Maxillary sinus augmentation is critical to oral implantology, particularly in some cases. The morphology of the sinus floor reflects the lifting effect to a certain extent; however, there has been limited research on the morphology after sinus ...

Tribocorrosion under galvanic interaction of Ti6Al4V and NiCr implant alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Micromovements that occur in the joint between dental prostheses and implants can lead to wear-induced degradation. This process can be enhanced by corrosion in the oral environment influenced by the presence of solutions containing fluoride. Moreover, the eventual galvanic interactions between NiCr and Ti alloys can accelerate the wear-corrosion ...

Evaluation of translucency of two types of glass-ceramics with different thickness: an in vitro study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Veneered all-ceramic restorations are associated with a high incidence of chipping and veneer delamination from the inner core. Monolithic all-ceramic crowns facilitate the fabrication process and minimize residual stresses between core and ...

A Gym for Cells—Direct Laser Writing of Magnetic Multilayered Micro Actuators for Mechanical Stimulation of Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Surface‐attached multilayer micromagnet systems are fabricated by two‐photon crosslinking. The pillar‐shaped micro actuators consist of a soft and flexible surface‐attached cell‐repellent hydrogel layer at the bottom, acting as a hinge and a cell‐adhesive hydrophobic polymer filled with magnetic nanoparticles.

ToF-SIMS Investigations on Dental Implant Materials and Adsorbed Protein Films [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
In this work the two experimental dental implant materials FAT and FAW, made of fluoroapatite particles embedded in polymer matrices, and films of the proteins lysozyme, amylase and bovine serum albumin (BSA), adsorbed to the two dental implant materials, were investigated with time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and the ...

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Emerging basic, clinical and translational research fronts in dental biomaterials R&D [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
The current (2007-2007) structure and content of dental materials research has been investigated by identifying and describing the emergent research fronts which can be related to basic, translational and clinical observation research. By a combination of network analysis and text mining of the literature on dental materials indexed in the Web of ...

DArch: Dental Arch Prior-assisted 3D Tooth Instance Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Automatic tooth instance segmentation on 3D dental models is a fundamental task for computer-aided orthodontic treatments. Existing learning-based methods rely heavily on expensive point-wise annotations. To alleviate this problem, we are the first to explore a low-cost annotation way for 3D tooth instance segmentation, i.e., labeling all tooth ...

Corroborating of Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 items (DASS-21) and the Perceived Stress Scale-10 items (PSS-10) and Psychological Features in patients with periodontitis: a questionnaire study [PDF]

open access: yes
Background: Periodontitis is a multi-factorial inflammatory disease that, if left untreated, can lead to tooth loss. Stress is considered one of the key contributors that can worsen the condition.

Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.
