Accuracy of digital dental models and three-dimensional printed dental models in linear measurements and Bolton analysis [version 2; peer review: 2 approved, 1 approved with reservations] [PDF]

open access: yesF1000Research, 2021
Background: Due to advances in digital technology, it is possible to obtain digital dental models through intraoral scanning. The stereolithographic data collected from the scanner can subsequently be printed into a three-dimensional dental model in ...

An Implicit Parametric Morphable Dental Model

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2022
3D Morphable models of the human body capture variations among subjects and are useful in reconstruction and editing applications. Current dental models use an explicit mesh scene representation and model only the teeth, ignoring the gum. In this work, we present the first parametric 3D morphable dental model for both teeth and gum.

Dentist laboratory communication [PDF]

open access: yesAl-Rafidain Dental Journal, 2004
The aim of this study was to evaluate the common errors that may occur during crown and bridge construction. Four hundred stone models were used in this study for fabrication of 265 bridges and 135 single crown. The total number of units was 1141.

Accuracy Comparison among 3D-Printing Technologies to Produce Dental Models

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Background: Little is known on accuracy comparisons among 3D-printing trueness and precision to produce dental models. The purpose of this study was to investigate the accuracy of different 3D-printing technologies (SLA; DLP; LCD poly and monochromatic ...

Single‐Tooth Modeling for 3D Dental Model [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Biomedical Imaging, 2010
An integrated single‐tooth modeling scheme is proposed for the 3D dental model acquired by optical digitizers. The cores of the modeling scheme are fusion regions extraction, single tooth shape restoration, and single tooth separation. According to the “valley” shape‐like characters of the fusion regions between two adjoining teeth, the regions of the ...

A mathematical model for the progression of dental caries [PDF]

open access: yesMathematical Medicine and Biology, 2013
A model for the progression of dental caries is derived. The analysis starts at the microscopic reaction and diffusion process. The local equations are averaged to derive a set of macroscopic equations. The global system includes features such as anisotropic diffusion and local changes in the geometry due to the enamel melting.

A model for dental workload measurement. [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Public Health, 1982
The primary purpose of the study was to develop a model that would provide an efficient and standardized approach to workload reporting in a non-fee (HMO-like) dental care system. The model was also designed to predict the dental personnel resource requirements in the system as the overall dental needs of the population were already known.

Challenges in Dental Statistics: Data and Modelling

open access: yesEpidemiology, Biostatistics, and Public Health, 2022
The aim of this work is to present the reflections and proposals derived from the first Workshop of the SISMEC STATDENT working group on statistical methods and applications in dentistry, held in Ancona (Italy) on 28th September 2011. STATDENT began as a forum of comparison and discussion for statisticians working in the field of dental research in ...

A Proposed In Vitro Methodology for Assessing the Accuracy of Three-Dimensionally Printed Dental Models and the Impact of Storage on Dimensional Stability

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The objective of this study was to propose a standardised methodology for assessing the accuracy of three-dimensional printed (3DP) full-arch dental models and the impact of storage using two printing technologies. A reference model (RM) comprising seven
